The benefit webmasters get is that you're actually doing something to keep kids from accessing your site. A new alternative to ICRA is being touted by ASACP called the RTA Label. http://asacp.com/page.php?content=RTA

I'm all for keeping kids off my sites , do these tags achieve that goal, if so great I'll look into using them
In a similar vein I though about putting links on my site to net nanny et al (as many wm do) - however I noted from their affiliate program that they don't accept traffic from adult sites - how serious are they about keeping kids off adult sites? I checked out the RTA labeling and I like it, all I need do is label my site and insert the tags, the onus is still on the parents to ensure that their kids browsers are set up correctly to recognise the tags. I will put this on my hub and other sites, not sure if its okay for free sites and galleries though. |

I put them on all of my sites. It is not hard to do at all, takes about 5 minutes, and you're done. Usually I'll fill out the ICRA form so that it generates the tag for the whole domain, I don't screw around with the details like individual pages. I'll take the tag, and the RTA label and put it in a text file uploaded to my server. On each page I create, gallery, free site, blog, etc, all I do is put a php include to the file in the head of my HTML. Takes almost no time at all. Now, if you are submitting to a TGP or similar site where you need to submit a static HTML page, then just copy and past from your text file while you are making the galley.
This is such an easy thing to do that it doesn't matter to me as much how effective it is as it does that we as adult webmasters are making an effort. The responsibility still lies on the parents' shoulders, but I consider it a best practice kind of thing to include those tags anywhere I can. So, yes, I put them on my blogs. I haven't done TGP in a while, but I don't remember anyone having a problem with ICRA tags on galleries. |
