Glam/Erotica Conversions Suck. Any Ideas as to Why?
I love this stuff but I'm wondering who has success with sites like hegre, met art, etc...? One obvious answer why sales are awful is b/c they're giving away soo much free stuff. The other - and I find it hard to believe the sponsors don't realize this, is that apart from giving away too much free stuff, what do you get when you actually join? More of the same shit. It's not like you're actually going to see one of these girls with a dick in her mouth any time soon - or ever. So the enticement to join the pay site is lacking.
On the other hand, I know softcore can potentially sell as well as hardcore and someone whose fancy these sites tickle might feel more inclined to whip out the plastic for a site of nice looking nude photography as opposed to recycled videos of gapings assholes full of semen - but my stats point to the fact that I'm wrong about that. Any thoughts? |

Mix it up a bit to give your surfer a bit of variety ...
Use dating and escorts (LionDollars) or even celebrities (RevshareRewards). I use these for mix-up on even my most refined niche traffic properties and they account for up to 30% of my total bottom line on even those. 2c

I think sales can be awful for affiliates, but not for the sites themselves.
It's like if you started a blog to promote bangbus, your ratios would suck yet the site and the network makes huge money. Well known sites like Metart need huge volumes of traffic to be worthwhile for an affiliate. A blog doing 1,000 uniques a day will have horrible ratios with a site like that. As for why people pay for it, there are many reasons. Almost anything is available for free these days, cable, movies, music, etc. I am savy enough, as are most people to get free cable, but I choose to pay for it. I could get all my music free, but I choose to pay for it. It's just easier for me since I would rather spend my time elsewhere. People who buy porn just don't feel like surfing to find a few clips that turn them on. They just want to log in and see it, do whatever they do, then log off. Paysite members are paying more for convenience than anything else. I know some surfers just don't know how much is available for free, but I think this represents a small number. These are all just my opinions so take with a grain of salt. |

Hi Phuckbunny. I'm softcore/lingerie and do just fine. I convert at 1:250 and am happy with that.
As you know "You gotta have a niche". I think to many softcore sites just have a little pic/vid set where the girl doesn't even say or do anything. She's a zombie. I get emails daily with members saying how refreshing and original my site is. I don't mean to be boastful but they say after joining tons of sites they've finally found what they're looking for. And here's what they're looking for. A peek into a girls bedroom. A girl who loves lingerie and looks into the camera and talks about lingerie lovingly just to him. Good quality audio to hear all the action. No blaring soundtrack - just me and him. There's a lot of guy's out there who will never get the chance to be in a girls bedroom and that is my niche. Yes, it's softcore, but it works. ![]() AND my affiliates that actually do send me traffic convert better than I do alone. Under 1:200

I think it really depends what kind of sites you are running and where your traffic comes from. If you get a lot of TGP traffic, they aren't going to dig the softcore unless you are really doing a good job of filtering your traffic down to people that are really looking for that type of thing.
However, if you ran a site that gets heavy search engine traffic, they might just be the kind of people that really enjoy the softcore. I know men who aren't really into the hardcore porn and just like to look at a lot of lovely ladies being sexy. It's a niche like everything else. |

Hi Monica
I optimized "softcore" for seo and Google went through the roof. I didn't think guys were into that. The only reason I'm doing what I'm doing is because my husband told me that when I'm not home he likes to jerk to Glam/Lingerie/tease type vids. Only problem for him was there was only pics. No vids. I asked him what would get him off - he told me (and directs me) and our little niche is born. I've yet to find any girl on the net that does what we do. It's pretty white bread and vanilla but different. Members tell me all the time. Seems everybody has to take it to the next extreme, but you don't have to. I love those lingerie boys and they love me and there's more joining all the time. Gaping anal is everywhere. Me in a little nightie talking to you in my bedroom is one of a kind.

Sorry Phuckbunny back to your point.
I was sitting here talking to hubby and two of his friends about this and the consensus seemed to be .... boring. Herge, Met-Art. Young girls with no make-up looking lost. No passion. Porn stars are porn stars for a reason. Niche girls get a following for a reason. They do something that gets guys off. Herge and Met-Art want to showcase the female form. Whatever ... so what! Guys want to see girls getting fucked or girls indulging their fetish. Artistic nudes just don't cut it.

well when I first go in to the biz.
they told me "you can do swimware all you want but soft core is going to make you more money, and hard core makes even more" I have found my niche like Lana. its not glam or soft core or lingerie its me! lol I do videos and photos and email people. I don't watch my conversions because I do this for fun. I can tell you that my hard core videos sell the same as solo even my balloon video sells good I get about 10k hits a day and lots of rebills its all about making my members happy and having fun.

The interracial slutwife is what lured me into this racket but I wouldn't promote it to make sign ups. I'll just but someone is making money off it though!

Money is big, in fact the biggest part of all this and we all know it. You might do it for fun, but money = how well you're doing. ie; how hot guys think you are and all us vain girls are always curious about that.

You guys rock. You are all right and all offered very valuable insight.
I also really liked BoyToy's suggestion to mix it up. I think this is the way CJ's work - people tend to click on the most deranged pic which just triggers the incessant CJ. Same goes for mixing it up, within reasonable limits, so while the ass full of cum I spoke about probably will stick out like a sore, err, ass in a site dedicated to met art, something a little out of the ordinary to get the surfer to click is probably an essentially good idea. Lana you're right about MET and those girls - they are pretty vacant looking - but I do have a male friend who is a total perv, who nonetheless has been a member of Hegre for 3 years straight. He might be one of the only people I know personally who have actually paid for internet porn but then again he's also got a lot of money. As I mentioned I like the glam stuff but I may be thinking of it as a shooter as opposed to a porn purchaser. Also, Lana, you're dealing with a niche with all your lovely silk and satin. That helps. Jim's on the money as well first off b.c of the convenience aspect, but also over the fact that these sites are already branded, like Bangbros, something I wrote about before. Anyway, I'm not saying anything that hasn't been covered before in this thread so thanks for everyone's input!!! |
