Anyone try the new WP 2.7 yet?

Holy crap! I went to do some post on a customers blog and saw he updated to 2.7. It is so damn different!

Every link is right there on the dashboard page. Everything has drop down menus to see the links and so on. Really takes some getting use to.

I still don't know where some stuff is on it. Anyone here using 2.7, and if so do the plugins work??

I've upgraded a few blogs to 2.7. I've been really conservative about the plugins. I know the new Add to any plugin works. I've got google sitemaps working. I think I have installed the new version of all in one seo pack, but haven't posted to that blog since updating. Oh, viper's video quicktags works.

Just make sure when you upgrade, you deactivate all plugins first. Then make sure you upgrade your plugins. The new plugin browser in 2.7 rocks!

Well it's good to know the plugins work. I can't live without these:

ad rotator
wp polls
samsarin php plugin

I guess I'll be happy with it once I learn it. But god damn I wish they would stop!!!


Just in case anyone wants to go back, I have almost all the older versions saved. Some really are nice, they got rid of some things that I really liked in the old ones.

I just upgraded one of my blogs the other day. I was tired of having ridiculous issues with it (it was on version 2.0.2 still!!) and it's a blog that won't damage my income should it not work out well.

So far so good... and the back end is definitely different. It takes awhile to get used to things when they switch it up like that. I'm not 100% sure whether I like it yet or not.

So far so good with my plugins though.

I like that the WP community is super active, and conscious of keeping the product updated, but it seems that they've been doing a LOT of interface stuff lately. That's all well and good, because I do like the new admin, but I do hope they keep it for a while and work on security more than looks for a bit.

How are you liking those ad rotators, Bill? I've recently started to use Open X, and I'm liking it. Anyone know of any plugins that make using Open X even easier?

Edit: BTW, just remembered, WP post ratings seems to work also an a 2.7 blog I have.

Wow, I just went to the open x site. Seems like a lot for just inserting ads. The two I use are small and easy to use in wp.

Rotates ads anywhere, your sidebars, header, whatever. It can be anything, banners, adsense and so on. But you need to use the samsarin widget in the sidebar for anything there.

Is a ready to go wp plugin to insert adsense, banners or whatever in your post. You can make it appear in the top, middle and bottom of your post.

Unless you need to upgrade or it's a security update why bother? It always brakes plugins and the upgrades tend to be interface or incorporate something a plugin already did.

One of my blogs was hacked again so I upgraded. Its pretty streamlined and i like the fact that i can turn off all the stupid feeds on the index page. So far i can't complain.

not yet.. I'm moving to a new server, so I haven't bothered upgrading yet.
