CCBILL, what affiliate code? (I really feel stupid)
I know the question has been asked quite a lot, but I simply don't understand the answers, or else I think they contradict each other.
So I have these different affiliates on my CCBILL Affiliate account. And in the "tools"-section there are two numbers the question is all about. "Affiliate ID" and "webmaster account". It seems most sites say one has to use the "Affiliate ID" in the linking-code. But if I press the "get banners" link in the CCBILL Tool-section, the link looks as follows: <A HREF="http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clicks.cgi?CA=WEBMASTER ACCOUNT&PA=Affiliate ID&BAN=0"> <IMG SRC="http://YOUR_DOMAIN.COM/IMAGE.FILE" BORDER=0> </A> As you can see, they use both the webmaster account number, and the affiliate ID number. Can someone be so kind and enlighten my simple mind once and for all? Thanks. |

The webmaster account is the account number of the sponsor you are sending traffic to.
The affiliate ID is the number you got when you signed up for the program. You have a main affiliate ID which is usually the ID for the first program you signed up for. Then a separate unique number for each sponsor you have signed up with since. BTW, nobody uses the CC Bill get banners tools. Most programs have their own tools area where you can get linking codes and other promo stuff.

Thanks a lot "mynameisjim"!
That makes perfect sense actually! :-D BUT! You are also indirectly saying that I should NOT use the "webmaster account"-numbers? I noticed if I go to a random affiliate site, it seems they only accept the "Affiliate ID"-number, and when I type it in, the code generated for me looks something like this: http://promo.hornybabesexample.com/s...ccbill=1577053 Does that look right? (hope this doesn't show I haven't understood any of it). |

Well, that link can work as well.
One is the CC Bill link which is a redirect, and the other is a direct link to the sponsor. They both work. Sometimes, when a program switches to a new system, like NATS, those redirect links stop working. But just use what the program suggests in the promo area.

Thank you a lot for your patience Jim!
So, let me get this straight: The "Webmaster account"-numbers are used when linking to an affiliate site THROUGH CCBill (to IDENTIFY what site one is linking to), and are therefore not needed when using the direct links given on the individual affiliate sites! I must have understood that right! Right?! And thanks for the info regarding links that stop working. I hope the affiliate-sites inform you via email of such important changes. Thanks again! |

Thanks for your input as well Paul, and your offer of help.
So basically I only have to worry about the right Affiliate ID numbers. At least, it seems as if the "webmaster account"-numbers are automatically generated as part of the links, whenever they are needed. (at least when I checked a few random porn-affiliates). So in other words, nothing to be concerned with I presume. :-) |
