What is this in my 404 referrers?
I had a lot of 404 results in my stats, so I looked at the logs to see what was wrong. I noticed a LOT of hits coming from this place:
http://nakedbrowser.com/ coming from various directories and pages on that domain. It's trying to call images that don't exist from a couple of free galleries I have. For example, if I have images named becky1 through 10, it's looking for 11, 12, and so on.. images that don't exist, but that someone might logically hope exist. What is this thing? |

Could be trying to hotlink your images

Sounds like maybe a Fusker search to me. You can Google it better than I can explain it, But basically it searches for sequential sequences in images and other files, and sometimes random common file names.
Google "What is Fusker"

Well, I decided to give htaccess a try. Here's a page about using it to block fucker type sites:
http://www.businessvoyeur.com/2005-0...o-block-fusker I can't remember how to test if the htaccess is working though. |

This should work for Fusker "Sites", But won't work for tools like FireFusk.
I don't know that this would necessarily but that much of a bandwidth hog, if you don't keep too many Files in sequential order since it will not actually be downloading files that don't exist. If you're like me It'll just drive you nuts looking at your Log files.

To be honest, I haven't looked at my bandwidth to see if it's an issue. However, I'm not keen on having some site out there hotlinking my content without the intended context...
I hate freeloaders. |
