Fetish artwork, opinions please...
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and appreciate the opportunity to consult the Gurus! I designed a website to display my fetish artwork and recently submitted it to cozy critics for review: http://www.erosketch.com I would love to get some expert opinions about the content: is it marketable, and if so, advice on how to market it? I realize the website is basic and doesn't exactly promote my material, which leads me to my present quandary. Your comments and advice are most certainly welcome! |

Honestly, some people will probably like them. They are not my style.
I prefer my ladies to have a mixture of innocence and naughtiness. Your girls look a bit hard for my tastes. Good luck, though!

I've seen much worse that people claim to be making money with. The artist definitely has talent.

I agree. The work is good, the modeling is excellent, the bodies look very 3D.
I should have said this when I posted earlier.

the artwork has a definite unique flair, i don't see a lot of pencil sketches online but that doesn't mean that there isn't a market for it.
I would classify it as fetish and if it were mine to market i would probably try and sell the original sketches at a nice markup.

Welcome to cosy, Artistikat.
Can you do comics with your characters? Comix might sell a bit better than pinups. Just a thought. Like Balls said, you can offer the originals for sale to fans. But first you got to get people to find you. There are cartoon and art top sites you can join. These will bring you targeted traffic. If you have art that you have not yet given out for free (or if you make some new stuff to be sold) you can sell them at images4sale. You'll get a store number at images4sale.com that will be your site for selling images and they take 40% of the sales price and provide the bandwidth and credit card processing. You'll get 60% of sale price. You can promote your images4sale store from you site. If you can do comix, you could sell them there and use your pinups as samples. Good luck. |

After reading everyone's comments, I'm getting the impression that my work is marketable, and my website objectives should reflect this. I'm getting an idea of which direction to take!
I like the idea of selling the originals at a nice mark-up, although "how nice" remains a question... Increasing traffic is an excellent point. I've really got to take some time to learn more about promoting the site, after some modifications to offer sales. I'd never heard of images4sale; after scanning it over, it appears that this is a way to provide content to other websites? While pricing is reduced, I would assume repeat sales would make up for it. I really admire artists who do comics; have never taken a serious stab at it, but there's always a first time... All of your comments are very much appreciated; thank you for taking the time to respond! |

Images4sale sells to the public not to other webmasters. Also I don't think it's a good place to sell after I read their terms which make it seem like they want to take all rights. That might just be too much legalese but still I don't like them anymore, except to get an idea of what might sell and for how much.
Once you accumilate enough content (and I don't know how much that would be) you can open up a mini pay site using Verotel's Ticketsclub program. Also I can PM you the name of a site for artists to have a pay site which is a subdirectory of the main site. You'll need a minimum of 50 images to start and would need to update now and then but the owner is very flexible about how much to update. |

Hi Josea, just a thought after reading your last post...
Should I consider selling content to other webmasters? I like the idea of setting up a mini pay site, maybe displaying some select drawings for free as teasers, and to promote sales of original drawings. In order to be competitive and give customers their money's worth I'd really have to increase quantity while maintaining quality; maybe pics with a comic edge would be the way to go. I'd love to check out the website you mentioned, thanks for offering! |

I'm not sure about the pay but you'll have to sell a set many times. You might be better off with a mini paysite, but I could be wrong. I sent you a PM of that site where you can set up a mini paysite as well as other info. |
