Just started my Twitter

Ok, so I thought I'd give this Twitter thing a try, more for the novelty of it than anything else. It seems pretty cool.

I LOVE that you can post with your mobile phone.

I bet there are plugins for wordpress that will do that. Anyone know?

Remember my negative response to twitter?

I'm probably going to be biting myself a few years down the road that I didn't catch up on it now but I still don't get it whatsoever.

It's cute, it's fun, but so is facebook which is a tremendous timewaster. Nothing wrong with wasting time but I'm in that Warner Bros cartoon mode right now: 'consequences shmonsequences as long as I'm rich'.

Sorry for being a Negative Nelly, I would indeed like to see how it goes. I must be in the wrong line of work if I'm so skeptical of technological innovations. I blame my former country.

BTW, I've considered ordering the electronic cigarette. You can order them direct from China for about $200 USD. Unfortunately for me, it's the nicotine that actually fucks me up way more than inhaling the smoke so it would be pointless in terms of health.

I'm going to look at that WP plugin now and maybe change my mind. Don't be mad.

I like Twitter and have met some good contacts through using it. I've been having fun lately using Twitpic to add photos along with my Tweets.

I stopped using twitter when they started having some tech difficulties (which seem to be worked out now), and I got distracted by plurk. Stopped using plurk when my phone wouldn't log in for some reason, even though I could tweet from my phone no problem. Then I just fizzled on the whole thing. Both services are really cool though.

I have a hard enough time listening to people I consider friends prattle on about their boring days, let alone strangers.

How does it work, do you post on your daily activities? That seems so bizarre.

True, a lot of people use it to post their boring daily activity but many use it as a true microblog. I for one hardly ever post something I'm doing as a normal daily activity. I post my opinions, interesting or funny things that happen, I post links to blog posts I or others have written that I consider exceptional, I reply to other Twits, I ask questions and get answers from other Twits, I find out about things that happen before the news knows about it, etc., etc.

Used properly it can be a very good networking tool. And before I follow anyone I always look at their past tweets and don't follow them if they're boring.

Hammer, the way you describe it does make it seem like it has some actual networking value. I like the term micro blogging as that seems a good way to describe it.

It is definitely micro blogging.

And like any other kind of blogging, there are lots of people trying to do it that are just damned boring.

On my Twitter, I've been posting links to bonus pics and interesting stuff. I've put a couple of life related comments, but I try to keep those to a bare minimum.

I don't mind life related comments as long as they're interesting and not just hourly updates on someone's typical day.
