ok for the newbs here's some traffic sources and their relative productivity.

TGP traffic - sucks and converts at like 1:5000-1:10000 depending on how good your galleries are.

Linklist traffic - Much better then TGP traffic but still a slow converter i'd say 1:2000

SE traffic - the best traffic as the user is looking for your content or wouldnt have found it in a SE can be as good as 1:200

Social networking (stumble upon, fark, etc.) great traffic im talking hun type traffic. And it converts about the same as the hun, worthless. Social traffic is good for alexa rank and not much more.

traffic/hardlink trades - this is also great traffic, its already targeted at your niche the conversion will be retaliative to where you are trading traffic with.

purchased traffic - worthless unless you know how to use it.... just don't bother until you have a shady idea pop in your head.

oh yeah... almost forgot one.

toplist traffic - superb quality traffic, conversion rates can be wildly low, the trick is sending enough hits to the toplist to rank high without wasting your own traffic.

balls_de, isn't quality traffic traffic that converts? Why do you say top list traffic is of high quality and then that it doesn't convert?

what i meant by low conversion was a low ratio. it could be better then 1:100 depending on where your toplist traffic is coming from.

I should have added the conversion ratio for clarification.

I buy traffic on CDs. Load it onto your PC and then watch your site getting hits after hits....;0)

traffic cd's are so unreliable these days, i remember when you could buy 20k converting hits for just a few dollars
