HTML resources
Hi all. I decided that HTML is an area that I need to improve on to spice up and polish my websites. Here is one resource that I found that seems pretty good despite a few broken links and a small amount of outdated info:
http://www.adultwebmastersonline.com/tutorials/ Do you guys happen to know any other free/inexpensive tutorials and/or books that are excellent for learning HTML? I would really like to get a good jump start on this topic and not have to rely on templates. Thank you. -man007 |

These all seem like very good web design resources. I also picked up a copy of the book HTML Dog, a guide for XHTML and CSS.
What is your opinion on learning a WYSIWYG web design program like Dreamweaver? Is it a waste of time or am I better off building pages and galleries from scratch? Please respond. Thank you. -man007 |

Thank you for all the great feedback.
Just one quick question: is Dreamweaver worth learning to make my galleries from scratch? I heard the learning curve of the Dreamweaver program is pretty steep but worth it. I also ordered Head First HTML with CSS and XHTML from Barnes and Noble to really get a leg up on my web design. Hopefully all of these resources will come in handy. Now the task is just study, practice, and having lots of fun doing it. -man007 |

For basic Galleries learn Dreamweaver and CSS. Dreamweaver will produce the HTML code. You can then style the gallery with CSS to look unique. Reuse the HTML template again and again with altered CSS and SEO to look different.
The most important think to remember is the seo factors, target each gallery to a specific long tail keyword. Title, Keywords, Description, Text on Page, Text of links out and into gallery all specific to your chosen keywords. 6 to 8 months down the line you may get search engine traffic that converts way better than TGP traffic. I suppose what i am saying is you only need a basic understanding of HTML CSS PHP and so on. The key thing to remember is your trying to make money, not win design awards.

Actually, I believe Dreamweaver to be quite the opposite. However, using for it's WYSIWYG design function fails in a couple ways. First of all, it still writes crappy styles and occasionally bad code (not too bad these days....but still.....) Also, if you write, or rip (for learning) a more advanced site and plug the code into DW, you'll see that the design gets entirely thrown off, especially using CSS place holders to create columns, etc... I *WOULD* always recommend DW though, but after your first design what you should do is take a screenshot of your site, print the code, and hand-check everything. The reason I recommend screenshots of your finished project is so you can compare your design to your HTML printout for learning purposes of how its constructed to prepare you to rely less on WYSIWYG. Write all over both printouts, takes notes, delete stuff (after saving) and see how it effects your site, etc.... This way, not only do you find redundant code to clean, you'll quickly find yourself knowing EXACTLY how the code relates to your page layout. Do this a couple times with sites, you'll be thinking in HTML rather than in design. It's a pretty neat, fun, and rewarding process.

Thank you all for your advice. I have enough online resources now to learn some serious web design. All the basic online pages for HTML and other languages are great for starting out. I also have a couple books on HTML, XHTML/XML, and CSS. These will definitely give me a jumpstart on web design. Even if I only do a simple page(s) on my dogs and/or hobbies on Yahoo/Geocities, that will give me some experience.
I already have a basic "adult" domain name and some extremely manure cheap hosting. This should give me enough resources to build a few good quality galleries with HTML once I find some free sponsors. I am starting to see that this industry is not super complicated, it just takes time and dedication. Thanks again for all your positive feedback. -man007 |

As far as sponsors, I am browsing my favorite sites (mostly softcore for now) for sponsor/affiliate programs. Niche-wise I am thinking about the following ideas:
* The exotic big tit "niche" may be a very promising one. I still have to research traffic for these. The challenge is to find a niche that has some traffic and is not over saturated. This should ensure that visitors come to my pages and the overall competition is not overwhelming. It is tough to find a happy medium. Please let me know if you guys have any suggestions and/or niche ideas. I am pretty overwhelmed myself as far as what sponsor content to provide in my blog/galleries. Thank you. -man007
