Anyone using the latest Wordpress release?

So what do you guys think of the newest Wordpress release?

Are you using it yet?

No, right now I have 2.6.1, or something like that. It works fine and does not have the holes the others had. So why bother changing?

I will install the newest one on a test blog I have just to see what it does. I have been keeping copies of all the old versions too!

I thought 2.6.1 was the latest version, there's an upgrade after that?

I haven't upgraded yet, 'spose I should...

They have 2.6.2 now, and are working on 2.7!

I'm a little gunshy about upgrading any new releases of anything now. I'll wait and see what happens to everyone else first!

It worries me a little bit that one of my blogs is wordpress 2.0
The other is 2.0.5

Should I be worried?

How can I update if I have heavily modified the theme? index / sidebar / footer / header?

Without it screwing everything up as it did last time I tried.

When you update, it does nothing to the themes. So any changes to your theme will be fine. You DO NOT replace your themes folder!!!

In fact I never replace anything in the wp-content folder. You only upgrade the wp-admin and wp-includes folders. You also make sure not to replace your config.php file.

BUT, the upgrade make make an old theme not work right. So make a copy of everything in case you need to revert back.

There's nothing to cause worry, but you'll find it a lot easier to work with the upgrades, should offer more fluency in certain area's, as well as the plug-ins. Also more secure than 2.0.5

I've given up on upgrading. I just use whatever the current version is on new blogs and leave the rest as is. There seems to be a new version several times a month and they have holes in them.

My last install was 2.6.1 and it seems fine. I actually prefer the old dashboard even after finding everything on the new one.

I decided to change servers. It seems to not work on auto update with php 4, had to jump to 5
