I've been busting my ass building up my site as you all know. In the last few weeks I've increased my daily hits almost 100%. I intend to match that several times more in the next month.
Ironically, the past week or two I have seen a slowdown of sales, even with more hits. Is it just a slow time of the year? I suppose with more traffic I get more that are just looking, so my sales ratio gets worst. But I should still get the same or more sales. One sponsor I was doing 1:250 I now am at 1:1500!! Yet they say it's doing even better now, it's a new site. Also I suppose if you have a small site pushing only one or two paysites they join or not, NEXT! While a bigger selection spreads them out more, perhaps making them wait longer to join?? My traffic is good, all SE, top list with clear description so they know where they are going, and blog trades. Any suggestions on why I'm seeing this? On the plus side, more are clicking and buying stuff in my shopping mall, like clothing and so on. I must get that place fixed up better!

a site that's too large and confusing can cause a surfer to move on, but i don't think thats your case.
you're riding the same wave as everyone else. you'll have good months and bad months.

Stats can make you tear your hair out if you aren't careful.
I think you are seeing the usual up and down trends that everyone does. You need to look at stats over a long period of time in order to make any conclusions. If your ratio was 1/250 for six months and then dropped to 1/1000 for instance, and stayed that way for at least a month, then it's time to worry. (at least in my books) So when you say your ratio was better, how long was it that good for? And how long has it been since you started making these changes and saw the drop in conversions? Sometimes it's best to sit back on your laurels and give it time. |

Yeah, it's only been two weeks at the most I have seen a drop. Plus I am seeing more hits overall since I'm getting more traffic. So it just looks worst to me.
But I suppose when the sales start going it will be better with more sales. I always seem to get groups of sales, then it stops. So I'll just keep working on it and building it. This does make me double look over my site and try to make sure it's not too confusing. But it's really very straightforward. The traffic that gets pushed into each section simply sees a blog format with post they want. If they look just a little they see more related links. And if they really want to check the place out they see all the other stuff. I'll give it time.

Absolutely give it more time. Stats can be really up and down and you really need to look at the average performance over the months... one month to the next.

Yup, I just got a sale now, and I'm sure others will follow today or tomorrow. Plus it's the big weekend, back to school and all that. So most people have just been too busy to buy that great porn!
I'm sure next month with things slower the sales will pick up.

More traffic doesn't always mean more sales. Your overall traffic quality might have gone down. There is also the natural ups and downs, this month has been a down month for me.
