Adult Webmasters Is Hard Work!!!
Fuck man, there's alot to this shit. Alot to learn and alot to do. Everything moves fast. This is a serious business and if you are making good money from webmastering consider yourself a good businessman.
You have to move fast and be quick at the same time. Meaning when you see an opportunity you move on it fast, right away, you dont wait. And when your actually doing the work your efficient and quick at getting it done, fast on the computer. The first one is not a problem for me. I can hustle. But my computer skills are sub-par for doing this. I haven't learned to be quick on the computer. I realized though that I don't know any people who do anything computer related for a living personally. Nobody. No family, no friends. And that is the problem, I'm the best on a computer out of everyone I know. So I'm not learning to be fast on a computer. So this is what I've decide to do. I never finished college. I did 3 years at a CC and transfered to a four year University to study chemistry but dropped out. I'm going back to school to finish my degree in something in the computer sciences. I need to finish what I start. Not sure what programs they have I'm going up to FIU as soon as i hit the submit button and talk with some people in the computer sciences department. Being around and meeting smart people in person, who live on a computer and know their shit is what I need right now. Don't get me wrong you guys on the board are great. And thanks to everyone here for helping me. I'm going to be asking alot smarter questions. And I will have more to give back as well. I need to be around people though, be out and about. Mingle meet people. Meet bitches, in class, in the computer lab, put dick on em, put em to work, you know how it goes. I'm ready to learn and work hard at this. Just some shit on my mind |

Sounds like you hit that point that every adult webmaster hits when they say "damn, this is a lot of fucking work!"
I'm a high school drop out. Everything I learned on the web I did myself, and help from people like on this board. My first PC was a web-tv thing. I type with two fingers, just like Klinger on that show MASH. You don't need to be fast, or know lots of techie stuff. What you need to know is how links work, how the whole adult biz works, how to reach the surfers you want, how to pick out the best picture, how to write the best lines, how to pick the best sponsors. Going to school will teach you nothing of that. I can't think of anything I can learn from any school that will help me do this, except just trial and error and read boards like this and learn hands on. But hey, more degrees never hurt anyone, except for the ones trying to work at Mcdonalds right now!

That's why I can't do it myself.. I know nothing of links. I just find people, sell people's skills.. or sell a job to a person.

it's smart to finish your degree. Sometimes being a webmaster will never be more than a part time gig no matter how much you try. The income may not ever be what you want. you need to have something to fall back on.

I think you most certainly have to be as tech savvy as possible in this business, because regardless of how much you know, there is generally going to be someone somewhere in the world that knows more, and devotes his life to stealing your product or trying to infect your house.
My view of running an ideal site would be to hire people to handle specific responsibilites, just like any business would have a marketing dept. an IT guy, a designer, and an accounting dept., of course not to mention a photographer and videographer and also someone to hire models, schedule appointments, costumes, scenery, and on and on. Everyone and everything necessary to run a business that is active 24/7. Of course that's in a perfect world, most of us are independent and running things from our homes. My goal is to get to the point of hiring someone to help in certain areas, thusly I can focus on my strengths....

Having a degree is overall probably a good thing . . . but I really wouldn't expect it to help you in the adult business. Hell, my (three) science degrees don't help me in my R&D job either. You don't really learn much useful in college, having a degree is just a selling point for yourself to get a job.
You'll learn more about computers by reading a book (plus it's cheaper and faster!). And you'll learn more about the adult biz by working in it. |

any work whether hard or not required us to study and learn. everything is a learning process, if you just enjoy the process it will take so easily.

If the college degree leads to a good mainstream career then it's a great idea. If you think it's going to give you the training you'll need to be a better webmaster, it won't. Any career, even one in the adult entertainment industry requires training but it needs to be appropriate. However, finishing your degree so you're at least marketable at such time as you find it necessary to get a mainstream job is still a good idea.

College degree
I have a business degree, but what i find to be most helpful is to be able to write a complete sentence. My blog Goodhummer.com requires me to practice techniques learned in English composition. Communication is the key along with determination to succeed.
