Yahoo vs. Google

i have a domain that get quite a bit of traffic from both yahoo and google and ive noticed over the last couple of months that the yahoo traffic converts much better for me...has anyone else ever noticed anything like that ,or is it just a flucky think.

Well for me yahoo has not been good. I'm on the 1st page of yahoo for lots of my crossdresser terms, and I don't see any sales from them, at least not what I should see being on the first page.

But some have said they do well. I guess it depends on what your pushing.

Yahoo traffic is always better than Google, although not much people use Yahoo to search

We're such slaves to google there isn't much talk about any of the other search engines, are there any specific ways to optimize for other agents?

That's the irony. With the Google algo being the best of the three, you can reverse engineer how the results came about just by looking at the results and doing research on the sites.

With other SE's the results are so varied it's actually tougher to decide what it uses.

I've never worried about optimizing for Yahoo because it's so easy to get ranked. Usually, if I optimize for Google the same page will also do well on Yahoo and conversely, I'll often have pages do well on Yahoo that I struggle to get ranked well on Google.

I suspect that Yahoo converts better because of the type of person that chooses to use Yahoo over Google. My guess is that they're more intelligent.

I've never had that unfortunately. I've had first page google ranking and not even the top 500 on Yahoo. One of my older blogs that does very well in Google doesn't even show up for it's own name in Yahoo. Go figure.

I'd suspect most, not all, but most people who use Yahoo are less Internet savvy than Google users. So it might convert better.

I think part of the reason SE traffic converts for porn is because very few savvy surfers use search engines to find porn.

I think plenty of savvy surfers search for porn on Google but they're savvy enough to know how to find what they're looking for for free.

i have never heard of any such thing before. Both Yahoo and Google crawlers's algo. changes daily. it might be that day when crawler crawled your site it was more apt for Yahoo....

Yea yahoo typically sends less traffic but it's typically better qualty traffic IMO.
