? Long Long Blog Post

I writing a post for my blog and it's already 3 pages in word. Would I be better of as far as SEO is concerned if i break the post up in to sections. and make a new page for each section and on the new page make the title of the page be the same as the subject of the section.

also do readers prefer getting stuff in bit sized pieces or do they want it all at once.

I hope that way clear but just in case.

ex. Subject How to bake a cake.
write a page about baking cakes.

2nd post. selection of the best ingerdents for baking a cake. write about using fresh spices

3 post. mixing ingredents for to bake your cake. write about folding the eggs into the batter or whatever

and so on and so fourth in till the cake is made.

or would i be better off writing one long blog post and calling it a day.

I think it greatly depends on your subject.

you don't want to write a book though. huge articles can turn off surfers.

Like BD says, depends on your subject matter.

If you are giving a formal critique of a mathematical theorem, then you'll probably be a bit long winded.

If you are writing about baking a cake, short and sweet is probably best. No pun intended.

Multiple page blog posts are pretty rare from what I've seen.

I don't know about porn blogs but I know of at least one mainstream blogger who prefers longer posts. More like articles. Claims it's better for long term traffic. And he make an eviable amount of money from his blog. (Or so he says)

Also most tutorials are multi-paged. And tutorials do get lots of traffic.

As has been said, the length of the post depends on the subject matter but if it's as long as you say, you'd be better off breaking it up into installments. If it's interesting enough, readers will look forward to the next installment and it would be a great way to get them coming back for more.
