Whats the best way to promte a BLOG?

I just put up a new blog and im wondering whats the best way to build traffic to it. i have another blog that i built and made about 20 or so link trades and the traffic from those trades is shitty. you can see the sites i traded with at www.girlmeat.com/blog i dont know if anyone else is getting better results from trading with these sites. so i guess im trading with the wrong sites, and or i didnt make enough post on the blog to get good se traffic, i dont know. but with my new blog i know i want to be more selective with who i do link exchanges with. the new blog is also on its own domain, the one listed is not. im also planning on putting up 1 post a day in various niches. so if you have a blog thats doing well please let me know what your doing right or what your doing wrong. thanks

The blog you posted hasn't been updated since April 28th. That's not a good way to get traffic.

The link trades you mentioned are mostly for quick PR, not for traffic. Although you can get some traffic from those directories.

Work on quality recip linking and if possible, one way links although it may be tough at this stage. But you can grow with quality recip and ABC trading. Just take it slow.

You can reduce posting once your blog is doing well, but early on, frequent posting will pay off down the road.

The number one thing to focus on with a blog is SEO. If you do it right and actually write some text and don't just post pics and concentrate on keywords while you write the text, you'll get SE traffic.

if you are not updating your blog regularly and concentrating on just link exchange. it is not going to benefit your blog. there should be a daily or periodic updation, then concentrate on link exchange

Exchange links with other blogs that have your same niche. Find good quality top list and link list. Blog Directories IMO are worthless, I've never gotten more than 2 hits a day from any, most none.

Post comments on other blogs, making sure it's the type you can add your url. Finally if you see a really big site that has your type of traffic, offer to buy a link or banner spot in a good position.

One neat thing I'm doing is, If I see a place that has tons of traffic I want, I'll offer to make a review of that site and put it in my review section, or even make a page about them. In return I ask for a top spot link on their site.

Win win for both.

Send a message via ICQ to balls_deep
update regularly, directories, link dumps, pic post, exchange links with relevant sites, link from freesites, get reviewed (kinda like bill said), comment on other blogs and link back, social networking.

a successful blog takes a lot of work, but once your traffic starts building you will see the benefit.

i'd say the most important part is link building.

It's not possible to have 700 keywords. Each post you write should focus on 1 to 2 keywords or phrases, max.

thanks guy all try all of those things. I just link traded with the blog directors and i guess i was expecting them to do more for me as far as traffic goes, but i guess they have other uses.

Hammer I didnt mean that the post are 700 keywords. I mean I write long blog post, stories, my opinion ect..... on my blog so i get a chance to add alot of keywords on the site.

You don't need to write 700 words to get good results from the SEs, the important thing is your keyword density and if your writing long posts to get a lot of keywords in, it's not doing you any good.

What would be a good minimum number of words to shoot for?
Also what would be good keyword density?
