If they do that there will have to be air tight mechanisms in place to stop a few entities from mass buying tens of thousands of domains through artificial means as soon as they go on sale.

Something like you have to apply for a code and that code is attached to a credit card and name and you can only buy ten per day.

There was a rush with .biz, .info, name etc

But in the end, only .com seems to matter. I own a few .TV, .Mobi etc, but my .coms are the most valued IMHO.

I may be naive but wouldn't .xxx just cut to the chase? When I'm Googled I'm lumped in with thousands of lingerie stores. In my case wouldn't .xxx separate me and others from the hard good shoppers and let the surfer find what he's really looking for?

I've a feeling its much more about giving the name speculators more inventory than meeting any domain name demand. Their auto-submit scripts aren't pulling the hundreds of new names a day like they used to.

I think it's gonna be the same ole same ole and can't see this affecting much except maybe things like .xxx ,.sex and maybe .kids.

I mean think about it, most sites are always dot coms even though there is close to 100 extentions out there already. I can't see things changing much IMO.
