Windows Media Encoder Question
When I'm encoding videos with the Windows Media Encoder, it will play the video as it does it's work.
Is there any way to set it up so that the video isn't physically playing while it goes about it's business? Sometimes I don't want a porn video playing on my screen, even if it's in the background... because you never know who is going to walk into the office!

If i'm understanding what you're asking I'm pretty sure you can check or uncheck video panel under view in the tool bar. If this works not sure, how it affects final output. Never did it before

Do you mean encoding or capturing Monica? WMM does not preview the video on encoding, but does when capturing raw video to file. There's a checkbox for muting during capture; thats about it.
And I found that if you try to just mute and minimize a session you can get anomolies in the video. I minimized a capture session and worked on email. Everytime the machine checked email there was an electron fart in the resulting video. |

I've always wondered if it would work well in the background or if running lots of other programs at the same time would cause issues.
And no, I don't mean during capture... What I was doing was taking an existing WMV and cutting it into smaller chunks. Each time I told it to slice up a chunk and save it as a file, it would sit there playing the entire video. I don't understand why other programs can give you a little progress bar but WMV has to play the video. It's annoying. I don't want to watch videos while I process them. |

Well unchecking the video panel worked for me, but normally I use adobe premiere for all that stuff now. The CS3 version is very good
