Seeking to Trade Links and/or Purchase Incoming Links

(I posted this in Traffic Trades earlier today. 9 views all day and zero responses. So, either no one is interested or no one looks at that page any more. I'm hoping for the latter)

Good day folks. OK, I'm still a total noob but I'm slowly becoming more comfortable with things.

I have one blog and it's getting around 550 uniques per day of what I consider good traffic. Zero TGP traffic. I'm guessing it's about 70% amateur traffic and 30% pregnant traffic.

It is my understanding that I can improve my PR and therefore my SE traffic by exchanging or purchasing incoming links.

I'm looking to do that now.

Is there anyone out there that would benefit from a link exchange with me? Or perhaps is selling quality incoming links? No Link Farms please.

Does anyone use those auto comment/trackback submitters or are they just useless shit? I know I'm assaulted with them all the time and just ignore them, but I picture they are like email spam. They're working for someone or the programs and the spam wouldn't exist.

Just curious about these things and how they work.

Walk slowly and carry a big electron microscope to decipher what PR is all about. IMO the only people who really give a toss about it are other webmasters, bc as Viking said, it will most often not matter for SERPs.

Nonetheless, you will hear a lot about PR on the boards.

Okay I need to ask a really really newb question that probably most people in this thread know the answer to except me.

Concerning backlinks. If backlinks are such factor in building page rank (not serps now), why don't they effect link lists and tgp's that require recip links? How does google determine the difference between recip links and backlinks?

Or if they do and I'm confusing the issue, why when you punch...

into google doesn't all the submissions with recips to that tgp or link list show up and be counted? I would imagine there would be hundreds of thousands from submissions.

Does it have to do with that google page authority thing, link relevancy, something else, what?

Porn Punk. The google back link checker is always wrong and never shows every link Google is looking at that points to a certain site.

Second, most TGPs and link lists are considered "thin content" sites as most pages are just outgoing links. Backlinks are not the only factor effecting PR. A well written site with a just a few decent links can be a PR 4 or 5 pretty quickly.

PR is determined by many factors, but the most important factors are:
- Page age (the page that are linking to you). Normally a freesite or/and a gallery is pretty fresh.
- PR on the page that are linking to you. I doubt any new freesites and galleries have high pagerank.
- Linkvolume on the page that are linking to you. Normally freesites are stuffed with recips, along with aff.links, so the linkjuice that eventually are getting out from the page is wery small.

That said...PR is bull, and have nothing to do with SERP placements. I wouldn't worry about PR at all. (PR is important _because_ webmasters worries about it).

What is a good (accurate) backlink checker. I'm actually more concerned with eliminating backlinks that are sending me nothing to my sites more so than being overly concerned with PR?

I have a couple pages (sites) that are swarming with way too many outbound links and I just want to tighten up. If nothing else they are leaks (or more like geysers)!

How do you plan to remove backlinks that you aren't happy with, email the webmaster and tell him he's a loser and you want him to remove your link? If it's a decent site there are hopefully a lot more people linking to it than just the ones you traded links with.

Well, I have stats that tell me my last and all time referrers. I figure if I've never received one hit back from the guy it's okay to remove his link.

It's sort of late maintanance on some sites I forgot I had but that used to be high in the serps and now aren't. Just before I decide wether or not I'll renew them

If I get an email from anyone saying I removed their link and mine is still up I'll put their link back up.

You're talking about two different things and that's why I asked.

Backlinks are links from other sites to yours. Obviously the only way to remove backlinks is to contact the webmasters and ask them to remove them.

You're talking about deleting links from your own site. The links from the other sites back to you would not disappear just because you removed your link to those sites until they realized you'd taken down their links and then deleted yours.

I asked for clarification because you said you were going to start weeding out backlinks and I've never heard of anyone trying to do that and can't think of a reason why it would be worth the effort. Personaly, I'll take all the backlinks I can get.

I meant I was cleaning outbound links off my site and didn't want to be burning another webmaster who might think I have them up but isn't checking (though I don't think I will be doing that on these certain sites). I'm actually concerned with the best way of taking off any leaks because I was reading something talking about how this simple move alone might possibly move you up in serps. We're talking a ton of leaks here - tons.

On a side note though someone actually did send me an email once asking me to remove a link to their site (this was following a request to put it up a short while earlier) and threatening with a lawsuit because I might be damaging their rank. Serious. It was that dating service that always sends away requesting you to threeway link to them. I can't think of their name right now, but I've gotten requests from them to all my sites and I basically ignore them now due to that incident where they asked me to remove it.

I'd like to see someone win a lawsuit against someone for linking to them. Especially for something as idiotic as claiming that it hurt their ranking.
