What to do for Neck Pain?

Last night I slept on my neck funny, AND the day before I was working on my laptop in bed (busy day), and the result was a very painful neck today.

Do you guys have any suggestions for neck pain? Obviously I need to avoid situations that cause it in the first place.

I was left with nothing to really do to help it other than pop some Advil to prevent the oncoming migraine.

One of those Deep Heating rubs for muscle pain may help in the short term.

Steve, I'm not sure I could handle a pack of ice first thing in the morning! I hate being cold.

However, do you think heat could work?

soak in ebson salt

the best thing for pains like that is to soak in a hot tub with ebson salt for about 10 minutes. just follow the directions on the box. you should feel better after that it works pretty quick.

My advice is to watch the way you get out of bed in the morning. Typically we all just sit up and at that point we put enormous strain on our necks.

Instead, try rolling over, get up on all fours (no this is not getting dirty), keep your neck relaxed and get up.

That action alone will minimise the neck pain for the day and cease sabotaging yourself first thing in the morning.

Strange advice I know, but it works!

Mate, we've been keeping it cozy here for 5 years now!

It's just as cool a place to hang/learn/contribute. Although I do miss having Raven here.

Wow, thanks for pointing that out Lana, I never even think of looking at post counts. 5 years indeed, I was supposed to retire a porn billionaire 4.5 years ago wasn't I?

There are a number of people that don't visit anymore, I guess some moved on and others just got too busy. I always stop in for a read even though I don't post everyday.

And yes, it would be nice to see Raven around here from time to time, and Sheri Santiago too

Sorry Timelord, I didn't mean to be rude. I didn't realize Mr. Lovepants has been around since 2003. I just thought 1000 posts was kinda cool.
I still love you though because your posts are always sophisticatedly funny. Really funny!

"Lovi: Oh absolutely, you need tropical sunshine pet, lots of it!" Don't leave us hangin' dude whats your personal recommendation? I've already picked my spot for 2009 but 2010 is still undecided!

Timelord thats how I get out of bed every morning!

CM despite the good advice it maybe wise to seek a professional opinion. Neck and back pain can be a symptom of something more serious.

It is cool Lana, you're quite right mate 1000 is still a lot of time spent as part of any community.

It simply prompted me to recall how long I've been a frogger here at the Campus. I joined at much the same time as Mr Lovepants and there were a few regulars long since gone! It's good to see him here!

It still cracks me up to read or write 'Mr Lovepants', what a great name!

Well that would depend on what you like to get up to when the sun schlepps over the horizon to shed it's cheery light on the folks round the other side.

Do you prefer to retire to a well appointed balcony with a good book and a few geckos for company, or do you prefer bright lights and music with dusky maidens conveying beer and things.

Hi Mr. Lovepants, thats a good question.....what do I want!

After several minutes of thought, I would have to say I want options. A house at the waters edge (with jetty) would be nice, close to a town with some good night life and restaurants. Not to far from a major center with an International airport and real hospitals. Broadband and cell access. The lack of terrorists would be a real plus too! Plus an immigration dept that issues 12 month or longer visas without any bullshit. Being an Aussie means the local beer needs to be real beer.

I want to be abled to eat out without getting gastro and party a coupla nights a week without getting the clap...or worse! And a complete absence of mosquito's would be ideal, if only "wishfull thinking".

Sitting on the verandah sounds good if I have a big screen TV and 180 channels, but the "bright lights and music with dusky maidens conveying beer and things." in small doses sounds like a damn fine idea too! Not being 100% well means small doses are the order of the day.

So, with that influx of further information what do you recommend?

Dude, you'd have to die where you're hoping to go, because it must be heaven if it has all the qualifications you are looking for!

Give me a hut with a dirt floor, a mosquito net, a good book and a beach nearby, and I'm good to go!

Monica, I do hope you got the info you needed, your thread seems to have deviated.

Hyballs, even paradise has mosquitos. But I'm tempted to suggest Pangkor Laut off the west coast of Malaysia not too far north of KL. It's a privately owned island.

I understand that if you can afford to stay there then the cost of a helicopter to Singapore (Hospitals) or Phuket (dusky maidens) won't be too much of a problem.

That said, there are some bungalows that look very nice at the end of Kata Noi beach in Phuket

That's Kata Noi in the fore ground, the middle is Kata main beach and beyond that is Karon beach. Over the headland is Patong with more beer and dusky maidens than you can shake a stick at.

Phuket is not what I would call an exquisite tropical paradise but it does have a international standard hospital an international airport, sufaced roads and good restaurants.

As for beer, look out for BeerLao
