If they/we can't make it with that then it'll never be done.
NOW, the trick is for me personally why do I convert well on my own, with aff's that build a page whithin their own site and even TGP's but linklinsts fail miserably every time?
Anyway, it's not about me. Great post! A lot will learn a lot from it. Linklists are a huge question around here. "How do I make money off a free site?" You've heard it before we'll here it again.

That is a super good tutorial, good job! I really like how you spelled everything out clearly, going through the rules for everyone.

I've never really understood why people don't seem to "get" it, but each link list seems to have a massive list of rules now, and it can get confusing.

And, a lot of new people are confused about the structure, so you've done good at laying that out as well.

Under "Index page" you spelled reciprocal wrong. No biggie, just thought I'd let you know

I would explain what a reciprocal link means. Took me a month to figure it out. Explaining how the recip is valuable to the LL owner would help explain it's usefulness to a newbie as well.

I would go into further detail about what a site title should look like and perhaps give a few examples.

You may want to explain hotlinking. I didn't know what it was for a long time. Of course, if someone is new, they prolly don't know what it is anyway.

The following will take some time but I think it would pay off for you in the long run. It's hard for newbies to read about something and then apply it. It's far easier to see it in action. So, my recommendation is that, thru each step of your tutorial, you offer a link to a sample page giving some sort of "pop up video" type of explanation of what you're trying to get across to the reader.

For instance, under "Index Page (index.htm)" provide a link that takes them to a great sample and have some sort of explanation box that say
"Please note url of www.curtisgay:-).com/freesite/index.html.
"Note how the Enter link is below is below the warning link"
"Note the brief title summarizing the free site"

Your tutorial is excellent. I'm only narrowly past complete idiot status when it comes to site promo so I'm just offering you advice on some of the things I went thru as a complete nube.

I thought about making an example site, but if i do every newbie site will look the same which I do not want. They can look at a linklist to get an idea of what's going on and structure.

Perhaps you can pick different FS's that are already on your site. Use one for one sample. Use a different one for an example of a different point. Just an idea.

Overall, your tutorial is very good. I foresee about 50 threads on this board in the next 6 months all ending with

"This has already been addressed, see: This Link"

a agree with what Luvin said about putting up examples. for people starting out its hard to actually apply directions that they read. a pictures worth a thousand words you know. so it will help people seeing examples of what your talking about, you could maybe put a disclaimer on the examples saying that people should be original and that you wont list any site with the same layout. also i think you should explain in greater depth how to set up the index file and free sites file structure on the same domain. for many people on the board it seems like a no brainer but for newbies it came be confusing until someone kinda breaks it down. then its like ok i see how that works its pretty easy.

it was also great how you explained blind links. i have to admit that i had no idea what that meant. i would see it all the and not know what they were talking about. i have blind links on some of my sites that i have to change now.

all and all i have to say i like the site. it offers great information. also its very easy to use and read. very meat and potatoes kinda of site i like that. on a scale from 1-10 i would have to give it a 9 1/2. good work and great information
