Is My Site Hacked, and if so, How?

Checked webmaster tools just to see what's going on. Under "what googlebot sees" under keywords, the #1 keyword is Xanax.

#4 is adipex

I don't even know what that is, nor alprazolam, phentermine or any of the other drugs and medical terms.

I have spam karma installed but non approved comments wouldn't get crawled anyway, so where could this be?

Is it time to move everything to a new domain and wait for Goog to recrawl everything b/c despite the dozen or so bandaids, I'm still working with 5-10% of the traffic I had 3 months ago?

I don't have an answer to your question but I get the weirdest stuff from everywhere. From longshoremen union halls in Alabama to Christian school bus trips through France. Google has me there. If I actually go there to check it out there's no sign of me at all.
I asked why this happens and nobody really gave me an answer.
It's not time to switch domains. It just means your domain is everywhere.
But on this subject, can anyone explain why we get our sites on places that mean nothing?
Why does the subtext on a search say something like "If you want to have leek proof floor lanaslingerieteasedotcom then of course a sub floor is a must" or "He just stood up, pulled out a 45 magnum lanaslingerieteasedotcom and started blasting?
How do these things connect?
Ooh jeez Phuck sorry for hijacking.
I was going to delete the whole thing and start a new one because I'm really curious about this but I can't be bothered - so I'm hijacking.
Slap me but I do love you

phuckbunny,

I can tell you when I look at my site "as Google see it", I see the SEF (search engine friendly) URLs that my Joomla CMS site has created. Your situation doesn't sound right to me. Perhaps someone else can shed more light it.

First, visit the main page of your site with your browser and choose to view the source. Look at the code very carefully and see if there are any links hidden in there that shouldn't be.

It is possible that your wordpress was hacked, especially if it's older than version 2.3

If you are using firefox, when you look at your site, you can click on "Tools" then "Page Info" and then the "Links" tab, and look through the list carefully. Those should all be links that you chose to put on your main page.

Again, if you see any links there that are definitely not added by you, it's possible your site was hacked.

If you do not see any of this, then there must be some other explanation.

Sometimes these things don't mean any problems for us. Kind of like the spam you see in traffic stats in webalizer... in the referrals... just wanting you to click to see why they are there.

I doubt you're hacked in this case.

It's the way google displays it's crappy data.

Pages steal your info and THOSE pages have the keywords on them. I think that confuses the webmaster tools.

That makes a lot more sense. These types of things usually have that kind of answer... that it's just something silly that honestly doesn't affect your page in any way.

I would still be concerned because that means Google is not indexing your site properly. Do you provide Google with an XML site map?

Didn't find any links that I didn't put in.

I think Jim's explanation is most likely the correct answer.

Art, I know google isn't indexing the site properly, but I've tried all kinds of tricks to correct it and it's not working.

I had a sitemap but removed it after I started having all these problems. I'm not putting up new sitemaps on new sites. Should I add one to this one again and try that?
