Voltage in a cloud-to-ground strike is 100 million to 1 billion volts. But seriously, try to shoot during natural daylight and you can get away with 2 or 3 medium-sized soft boxes for filler. Natural daylight still beats ANY lighting setup I've used so far.....

Bright natural light is invariably great but hard to guarantee in many places. In general terms you want bright fairly soft lighting and I have been getting on quite well with some big reflector dishes bounced off ceilings with those long life fluorescent bulbs inside. The light is very soft and there is no build up of heat like you get with tungsten.
The only problem with this solution is that it can be too flat on its own and also lead to slightly desaturated colours unless you can make some in camera tweaks, so it can be helped by mixing in a stronger lights source and some daylight wherever possible. I am using an HV10 bought about 15 months ago, so I'd be curious to know what the HV-30 is like. The image quality on mine is good but general handling could be improved.

I use Lowel lighting, hot tungsten with my HV-20.
BH link to a kit You'll need two floods and one spot to use as a kicker light, at least. Or shoot outdoors for free! (ok, buy a reflector) |

I use Britek, 3 floods, a boom and a spot.
http://www.lincoinc168.com/anadliki.html I shoot with a canon GL2 and will and our lights lights seem to do a great job. We will be purchasing a canon XHA1 3CCD HDV in the near future so our videos will be even better than before. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Camcorder.html You could always shoot outdoors, but be sure to use a light meter and constantly check the WB when changing sets or locations. Good luck

May I ask what wattage they are, and how much heat they generate? Does/can a generic 20-amp circuit feed it all your lighting?
