Stepping off the cliff
I am new (obviously, d'uh). Have been lurking for months. And was / am nervous about taking the final plunge. (btw - my sense of humor tends toward sarcastic, so don't be offended by my asides, please).
history: The BF and I decided to work on a porn venture, so I've been doing all the research and taking all the credit. Finally decided that a blog is the way to go. Decided that since there is a stereotypical fantasy of two buxom Svedish sisters having fun - why not 3 middle-aged sisters? Who knows what lurks behind the doors of each of our abodes? So, a few questions to all you wizened folks that have been down this road of decision making. 1) Is a blog good as a stand-alone or do you recommend that we have some referral pages (I guess that means sponsor & click stuff) as additional options? 2) Domain name: Does my domain name have to have anything to do with anything specific to our site or does anyone care? Many months ago I bought 15 or so domain names that sounded porn-like (??). Or is my main goal to max out SEO and let users bookmark my blog? (notice I said MY blog & not OUR blog! ha.) 3) Hosting: will Google allow a porn blog on Blogspot? Or do I need to buy hosting somewhere else? If other than Google, what are some recommendations? 4) All the legal-mumbo jumbo: Do I need to include the "I'm over 18" validation to enter a porn blog? WHEW! I can breath now! I've been holding my breath for wayyyyy tooo long. I'm feeling like now that I'm here, our stuff is REAL. No turning back...Thanks to all of you for being here! |

Re: Stepping off the cliff
Hi and welcome,
"1) Is a blog good as a stand-alone or do you recommend that we have some referral pages (I guess that means sponsor & click stuff) as additional options?" If you are promoting specific sponsors in your blog entries it is a good idea to have outbound links to them further down below the main menu. Make it as easy as you can to get the surfer to the tour (or join page). "2) Domain name: Does my domain name have to have anything to do with anything specific to our site or does anyone care? Many months ago I bought 15 or so domain names that sounded porn-like (??). Or is my main goal to max out SEO and let users bookmark my blog? (notice I said MY blog & not OUR blog! ha.)" Either is should be related to your blog theme (milfgazette.com is mine) to help with search engine optimization (SEO) or it should have a name that makes it easy for people to remember (thehun.com, shemp.com) keeping in mind that most of the short, easy names are gone. "3) Hosting: will Google allow a porn blog on Blogspot? Or do I need to buy hosting somewhere else? If other than Google, what are some recommendations?" 100% - buy hosting. You'll get link trades at more places, there will be no chance that your blog will be deleted and when your blog is really successful you won't to move the entries over from your free host. "4) All the legal-mumbo jumbo: Do I need to include the "I'm over 18" validation to enter a porn blog?" I am not a lawyer but I play one on the Internet. I do have a warning page but others don't. To me it is the reasonable and cautious thing to do. You'll need to abide by your local laws too. Regards and good luck, ---art

Art,
Thank you for your reply! I left out one question. I apologize since it is a rudimentary sort of thing. But, I'm having trouble figuring out how to find sponsors. I have a specific market in mind, but in order to arrange sponsorships - how do I do that?? Thanks again!

You're welcome.
You need to first to think of the niche that you would like to write about on the blog and then find sponsors who sell paysite memberships in that niche. For instance, BangBros owns a site call MILFLessons. If you want to write a blog about MILFs (Mothers I'd Like to Fuck) like me then you can sign up at BangBros. Then they will supply you with tools (content, hosted galleries, link codes, etc) to use on your blog. The referrer code in the links they give you will ensure that you get credit for sale when surfers buy a membership after having clicked on that link in your blog. Oh, yeah. You can have more than one sponsor per blog. I would personally recommend only one per blog unless the niches are closely related and make sense. Keep in my at all times, your job is to sell memberships. ---art [quote]Originally posted by LIDiva [b]Art, Thank you for your reply! I left out one question. I meant one niche per blog. Within that blog multiple sponsors are fine. It didn't come out that way.
