Helping hand, or not?

I just noticed that somebody copied my blog entries to some forum and left my ref codes intact Is it good or bad?

Jump up and down with joy and hope that forum gets a lot of traffic and that it happens often. You can't beat that with a stick. He only posted an excerpt and not the entire post, he linked to your blog and he posted it on a forum that will send you highly targeted traffic. Actually, if you're not already doing it, this is something you should be doing.

I wrote a post on Ventibate a couple weeks ago (anonymously of course) and a lot of people thought it was funny and started emailing the link to their friends and posting it on several high traffic forums. One guy posted the entire post like he had written it but by the third page of that thread someone pointed out that he'd copied it from my site and he admitted he had and posted a link to my site. That thread went on to be something over 15 pages and sent me lots of traffic. All told, I'd say I've gotten well over 100,000 hits on that one post page from the forums it was posted on.

Some day we should discuss viral marketing here on Cozy for those of you that aren't familiar with it or need some tips. Basically, what you want to do is to write posts about things that are funny or interesting in some way so that everyone feels the need to share it with people.

Hammer is the king when it comes to poking up a lot of talk about a post. Yes, why don't you start a thread about how to do that?

You seem to like talking about it, so you could give us all tips. But how would one start something like that on an adult blog?

I had my 15 seconds with that toon page of mine, and ever since then I've been trying to figure out how else to do that.

I saw a site that had a very unique sexual suit, if you will. Can't find it, but If I do I am going to make a post about it and contact fleshbot again.

Come to think of it, couldn't I try other big adult blogs about those same toons? I'm sure others have not heard about them, maybe I could get more traffic out of it.

I have them on my adult blog now with a few extra ones that were too xrated for my other blog.

On Monday I'll sit down and write up an article about viral marketing and some ideas on how it can be used for adult content sites.

I tried something like this, but my posts where banned after few hours, because I was posting from account registred few minuts before the post.

I think this is a long time technique. Create account on such board and write hundreds of good posts to get trust and become one of them. After that you can post what you want and nobody will delet your posts.

It's good idea but I don't have time for this. I have other skills which I think they will bring me more cash.

That's what I thought exactly Hammer. But the thing that worries me is that he posted ENTIRE POST exactly as it is. Could the duplicate be bad for SEO?

The traffic that I got form that post was small. ( 9 uniques past FHG, no signups), but my traffic on thumblogger blogs plumeted when I stoped updating.

Yea there is a lot of traffic to be had on the mainstream side of things. You just have to get the right thing.

One example would be "2 girls 1 cup" I can't believe how fast that moved into "mainstream" for being is sick as it was.

Can't wait Hammer. I've tried to do a little Viral myself and keep getting kicked out and barred. The thing that kills me is icky middle aged men in trashy lingerie with bad sound and bad quality video get to stay but little me gets kicked out. I don't get it.
Doesn't seem to matter what t is - I try to do a little advertising and I get banned. Even 250lb men huffing and puffing around in sexy little lingerie - that's OK.

Well, based on a couple of responses in this thread I can tell that some of you have a misconception of what viral marketing is. I didn't get a chance to get to it yesterday but I'll try to get to it today.

LOL! I used to say I invented viral marketing. I deal with it everyday with my accounts in tv, radio, print. How you use it in the adult biz is going to be interesting to read from the Hammer's viewpoint.
