What Do You Need to Ask For When Buying Content?
OK, it's high time I started in on the freesite game and I'm thinking about buying some content and trying my hand at it. The only thing that convinced me to give it a shot is that I started getting checks from sponsors that I don't hardly promote who use content that's been rehashed and seen all over the web everywhere. My best converting sponsors are of course the ones that produce original content, but if these duplicate sites get signups then I figure I'll try my hand with them.
So, according to the US laws and everything, you're supposed to have a record of the models IDs and DOB and all that jazz. What do you reasonably expect to get from a content provider? Will a fax/scan of some girl's Czech drivers license really protect a US webmaster when anyone can create that in Photoshop? Whole thing seems insane yet again. |

Why buy content for freesites?

It allows you to promote the sites you choose to promote. You can change the site you promote if you need to. Less saturated. You have to really know what you're doing though, using the RIGHT content is essential and how you promote the sponsors site. IMO a mix is best. As for 2257 no a fax/scan of a models driving license is in no way good enough to protect you from all the legal pitfalls. Go see a lawyer.

Hey guys. Of course I listen. I'm honoured and flattered to get a response from Paul, whose work I'm familiar with and which confirms my question precisely. Thing is, Paul you're a UK citizen living in Bohemia and Viking you're from Upper Narvik or Spitsbergen living in Vanuatu or something; so as much as I love you guys, I guess that answers my question: even purchased content is rubbish when it comes to US legal laws re 2257 (which no one follows anyway).
As for my SA comrade Razor, what I was questioning was that supposedly the whole point of using purchased content for freesites is precisely to protect you from 2257 b/c supposedly you get a *drum roll, please* a faxed or scanned copy of Veronika Fuckalotova's real name and her Kosovo driver's licence picture, which as I suspected and which Paul confirmed won't protect you from anything if you reside in the US. Ergo, it seems like purchased content is just as much of a load of kak as everything else dealing with the record keeping requirements. Jeez! OK back to the drawing board until I get my Vanuatan citizenship!

PB there are VERY big companies buying in every day from CZ. So please go see a lawyer about what will protect you.
The law says the issuing authority has to be able to trace the documents to validate them. I think they even stepped back on deleting a models contact details from the documents. However if you put it up you're responsible so unless you go 100% sponsor hosted you have no options. Now as a sponsor I'm only to happy to host it. Singing from to hymn sheets as usual. LOL

Paul is spot on when he says that selecting the right content is crucial - some sites are impossible to purchase content for (solo girl sites/reality)

Yes people slip through, mistakes are made and some on purpose. That's no excuse for doing nothing. It's the reason you do the most you can.
I know what hoops I had to jump through to get a Czech resident permit and what Eva needs to do to get her Czech ID replaced, on the other hand US ones are a little easier to obtain.

Looks like I'm back to square one with this one. I suppose here's what I was trying to think of, logically.
Here's the idea. Let's pick THE ultimate apocalyptic scenario that everyone is talking about and afraid of: a Fed agent comes knocking on your door. Please provide your title 18 records. You have bought content from CZ or PL or wherever. You have scans and xeroxes of IDs of Agnieszka, Jenka, Maruska etc etc etc. How would you prove these are real records if the law say they're bogus? You wouldn't right? Then wouldn't this make the whole concept of buying content b/c you get your 2257 docs bogus? I'm confused.

It's a "do what you should do within reason" thing. Personally I think the whole 2257 thing was a way for people who think porn is wrong to do whatever they could to make you not want to push porn.
Buy your content, get your papers, and that's it. If a fed ever went so far as to knock on your door your screwed anyway because they will figure out something to twist. You can't follow a law that has no boundaries. It's a scare tactic that will ruin someone's life, you just hope it's not you.

OK you're right, of course it's a scare tactic. I mean the couple of times they knocked on someone's door - I think there were a couple of episodes in the Valley in the past 6 months, these were producers (Red Light District, maybe?), they showed them the papers and they went away so theoretically if someone wanted to pursue it and play good cop bad cop they could have taken it a lot further. Joe Francis is another case altogether though.
I think I just figured out the solution. Only use retro content, preferably with dead porn stars!

I have a lot of old videos and content shot before 1995, just not sure if I'm going to give it out on the content stores.
All you can do is dot the i's and cross the t's then hope you have done enough. Or learn a new trade.

The truth is that model's can fake their IDs... content producers can fake the IDs... people can lie...
You have to do everything within reason to ensure that the model's are of legal age, and you have to follow the letter of the law. Make sure your content provider gives you LEGIBLE copies of the model's ID, and that the model looks like the person in the ID photo. |
