Maxing out blogs, so to speak

Hi Everyone,

I have a nice blog that scores highly in google but that only gets you so much traffic. Don't get me wrong, the traffic levels are good but I want to take it to the next level.

How can I take it to the next level? I already have some quality links in place, but still, im greedy, I want more traffic. Any ideas appreciated. For example, what can I add to it. I mean sure, I could stick a load of free sites on there, but a) is that the done thing and b) would it be the done thing.

HI there. I took a look at the site, it's very new. You have like what, 12 post? You need to give it a lot more time and get more post in there. Heck a lot of people don't even make a blog live until they have 30 post or so.

Also the theme is the default, plain wp theme. Maybe get a different one, it's very plain. My blog is 3 months old and I ger very little traffic, but it's because it's new. Unless your going to make a FHG splog, a good blog takes up to 6 months to really get going.

I'm with Bill. Your blog is a month old and has a dozen posts and you're already worried about taking it to the next level?

Keep posting and give it some time. At some point you should think about hard link exchanges and other marketing efforts but not until it's been around at least six months.

Hell, you're not even out of the Google sandbox yet.

I will tell you one thing though. Check into the SEO plugins for Wordpress because permalink urls like clickbondage.com/?p=8 aren't going to do well on the SEs. You need to change the permalink structure to include the post titles keywords in the url.

but how much money would it take to design a unique site like tmz or perez hilton doesnt look like standard wordpess out of box startup site?

A blog design using Wordpress can look any way you want and doesn't need to follow any set layout. Our prices for custom blog template designs start at $350 but that's if we start with a standard layout and modify the graphics. If someone wants something built from scratch it would be considerably more but frankly, I wouldn't see the point in most cases.

Stuey - your blog is very new like everyone said but it could really use some tweaks with the design, for starters you're using one of the default WP templates - find something nicer & more personal. Whenever I start a new blog, the hardest and longest part for me is finding a new theme and then modifying it so it looks the way I want it. With the amount of crap splogs out there, you can and should really do pay attention to a design that is appealing to the eye, it will go a long way for a long term project and even with a short term project; having said that I do have some blogs that are crappy looking that are holding steady with traffic but b/c it's mostly cc sponsors, it's hard to know where the sales come from and also they've been around for a while.

Nolimits, I personally don't find anything particularly well done about Hilton's blog or TMZ, and with even minimal knowledge of css and photoshop and html and whatever other basic tools, you can personalize any free theme and make it look your own and make it look cool the way you want it to. In fact, I find Hilton's design to be pretty shoddy but that's my own personal design POV.

And doing highly well in google seems to be somewhat subjective these days....?!?!
