RSS Aggregator Example Script vs Auto Blogger
I've posted about sth similar before so apologies if it's repetitive question. I came across this site
http://www.aliceemax.com/ which seems to pull feeds from places like ye olde fleshbot and others. It also includes a thumbnail. I've been toying with the idea of having one site (blog) where I can pull feeds from my other smaller blogs and where they would be reposted somewhat automatically through the feed but I'd like to have a visual there as well instead of all text. I'd be pulling the feeds from my other sites and not from anyone else's like these guys are doing. Questions: 1. Is there a plugin or free script that can do this and include the entire blog post including the images? 2. Is this a bad idea b/c there would hardly be any original content on the site but be pulled from the smaller sites I post on, and henceforth with duplication of content it would be shot in the cradle by the SEs? 3. I guess Autoblogger does this trick, right? 4. Is this a stupid idea? |

IMHO, and you know that's not worth much on here, what your trying to do is without any real purpose. If you already have good blogs you make post on, why repeat them on another blog, duplicating your stuff and possibly having google smack your sweet firm ass!
Why not just make another blog with it's own post? I just don't see the point, and again your risking the duplicate page stuff. But what do I know??

You're probably right esp re the dupe content issue. And I'm sorry I'm bringing up this old idea again.
I just have a flight of fancy once in a while where I can have some sort of mega-blog which will cover all kinds of stuff but which will be fed through my niche-specific blogs but I think you're right that its safe to assume that google's hand will smacking my ass, to paraphrase Tony Montana "faster than a rabbit gets fucked."

Google isn't going to slap you for duplicate content because of RSS feeds. Duplicate content penalties are more in the regards of having the same content on several pages on the same site.
Think of it like this.. the Associated press is syndicated across thousands of news sites with the same stories on them all. Google doesn't penalize them so why would it penalize a few sites sharing the same feeds. That's assuming you make sure the sites kept away from each other at arms length. Meaning don't trade hard-links between them and try to keep them isolated from the others you share posts with. |

Hi phuckbunny, Create your own RSS feeds with Icerocket RSS Builder or something like that. It gives you greater control over what is being feed to your blogs.

Thanks everyone. I'll look into some of these options.
I'm guessing if you're using images and you were pulling feeds from other syndicated blogs, then you would be hotlinking and wasting the other person's bandwidth, which is why I can't seem to find a script like that. In my case it would be all my blogs so I wouldn't care... Hmm.... Something to work on this week... |

I'm revisiting this arguably foolish idea but I found what I'm looking for. It's an RSS reader/parser which with one click of 'da little magic wand' will republish the post and give you the option of altering the text. The images are hotlinked of course, but if I'm just reposting something from of my own that wouldn't matter to me. If I'm hotlinking to someone from a blogspot site, I wouldn't worry about it either.
Surely this can't be another potential for getting my ass smacked by google. Should I give it a whirl? As an example, here's a guy whose posting ratio is probably 10% original to 90% of stuff he gets from other places. http://unscathedcorpse.blogspot.com I'd even say ditto for fleshbot, though they reword everything they do rely on other bloggers and tips for their content (though they get there often enough first). But as I said, let's say I have a straight blog, a fetish blog, a bi blog, a nudie blog and a teen blog. What if I then reblog those posts under a mega-blog with the magic wand I spoke of. E.g. - one post a day on each of 12 niche blogs will also add 12 posts a day onto the mega-blog. Is this a stupid idea?? I mean, I actually like the idea, I guess I'm saying that the only way it would be stupid in my book is if there are potential penalties involved.

Well if you really want to do it, then go ahead, what can it hurt? If you don't you'll always wonder. If it works out good, great. If not then you learned something!
BTW I approved your comment.

Well of course, doesn't everyone? Ashley wrote a post about 2 male penguins that has sex all the time at some zoo. I guess she's trying to show that being gay is not just a human trait.

OK, do you know the penguin joke about "giving someone a penguin"? It kind of needs to be told in person.
