Need advice? Park or build?

Greetings everyone!

I have about 8 adult domain names currently parked with sponsored adult ads that are doing about 2000 unique views per month and average a CTR of 50%. The traffic is completely organic and the revenue I'm earning is modest cosidering it's passive income. However, I'm wondering if it's more advantagous for me to build these out into full sites?

Given the stats I've presented, is there any indication that I would do exceedingly better with the domains as full sites as opposed to parked pages?

You need to look at how much you are making per click, and perhaps tell us that and tell us what the conversion rate is on those click throughs.

I'm afraid just knowing how many click through and that you make a modest amount doesn't tell me enough to be able to give any useful advice on whether you'd do better developing websites.

Well, 2K uniques a month with a CTR of 50% gives you 1K to sponsors. Even if you are converting at 1:100 on type in traffic, that's only 10 sales a month. But since your page is just parked with zero content, of course you are going to have a high CTR and probably worse than 1:100 conversions.

Do you mean 2K uniques on each domain or across all 8?

Actually, the parked pages have adult links on them. And yes...2k among 8 domains.

I hadn't considered those. Are the blogs better at coversion? I would imagine that you could showcase less content for the same or greater return. Is that correct?

Thanks for the reply. I'm probably overstating by using the word "modest". Each domain is making about $8 to $10 per month, which makes it worthwhile to own since they pay for themselves after only a month.

If I were to base my conversion ratio on your stats, considering i have a hundred links per page and a click to any could potentially be the same thing as a banner click on your current domains, my CTR would be through the roof as well.

I don't think your domains are doing you much good.

That depends on a bunch of things but I feel safe saying you will do better than $80/month if you hang around and read some threads here about blogging.

BTW, my first post wasn't to say you are not earning any money, it was just some quick arithmetic to see where you were at. When I re-read it I came off a bit short.

anywhere between $10-100k monthly. It all depends on your idea and marketing. parking domains and throwing up a few banners will never do anything for you except make you feel special. take one or two of those domains and do something with them that will actually make you money not just a couple of bucks.

I think it's important to stress that if you do build on these domains, it will take time for the money to roll. While some people pick up the game rather quickly, it can take months before you see any results.

The only reason I'm saying this is so that you won't get discouraged when you don't immediately see cash in the first few weeks or months.

I definitely think you should build on your domains if you only make eight or ten dollars from them.

I'm not disagreeing with Monica's comment but since the sites already get a few thousand organic SE hits a month anything would be better than throwing up a few banners.
