Can Anyone Suggest A Pen name?

Hi, Folks,

Here I am with a server, domain names, stories written and what I hope is a nice site and buckets full of keywords, all ready to go. But for one thing.

I need to dream up a pen name for an author. My mind is a blank. The name needs to be memorable, or at least not instantly forgettable, preferably mildly amusing but not insulting to the readers or their intelligence.

Part of the site marketing strategy is to have other sites publish my stories to drive traffic, so I need the name for that reason as well as for my own site.

The sort of thing I'm trying to come up with is a slightly raunchy sounding name with a nickname in the middle, like Dick "Wildnight" Rogers, which is not far off but not quite right.

Any ideas, please, anyone?

Thanks, balls_deep. Dr. Honey sounds good and it's a great play on words. I've uploaded the site with Roger "Shagpole" Dicksin for the moment. Any comments from other quarters about which is best? I think I like 'em both.

The DNS hasn't propagated yet. I can't even start on the search engine registration until it does. I'll start submitting the first story to other sites as soon as I've done that, which probably gives me about 24 hours to finally decide on a pen name.

I started a list of sites which print erotic stories and give the authors a link back, but I'm still looking for more so all suggestions appreciated.

Yeah, there must be some great plays on that one. I've got a bit more time, too. I use a third party for DNS and I've (that word again) ballsed up the settings. They charge a lot of money for fixing things at weekends, so I'm leaving it to tomorrow when it comes free as part of the contract.

So now that I understand why you want a male pen name I would suggest staying away from real names with a goofy "middle" name and instead come up with a first and last name like Dick Dribble. I'm guessing you've heard of Nascar driver Dick Trickle?

OMG I wish I saw this thread earlier but I'm still suffering from extreme exhaustion from a whirlwind Xmas/N Years obligatory tour of the American NortheEast. I looove coming up with silly pen names.

My current problem isn't a nom de guerre but what to tell people when they say 'what do you do for a living'? Now I'm not making a living from porn yet, and still do a lot of mainstream freelancing but sometimes I forget, especially when I haven't had a gig in a couple of weeks and get tongue tied. What should I say? Currency trading? Real estate? Homeland Security? The Foreign Office?

Funny you mention that. I've been watching this post and didn't speak up because I couldn't think of anything ass-kicking. But I did think - why not just use Horney. I like the E between the N and the Y.
