newbie

Hi, first off I would like to say that I am new to the site and have learned a lot of things that I didn't even think of. Ok, now I'll give you a little background on me, I just started to get into the web design game, I'm currently in school just getting all of my CIW and MSCD.NET certifications. I am in the works of trying to design my first adult website, and I am taking on a big task I am doing everything, I'm the photographer, graphic designer, web designer and everything else. Ok here's the deal I'm building a paysite with all original content, I've taking all the pictures and I have contracts with all the models, about 30 that have never been in this field, I have the basic design that I want but I'm having a problem with restricting access to the actual members area, I know it envolves a database, a couple scripts and a merchant account but I don't know how to tie it all together any help at this point would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi and Welcome to party !

For restricting access to the members area use existing scripts (example: NATS)

Welcome.

I don't really know a thing about the payment processing, but I would assume that the payment processors will help you with that.

There's enough people here who do know that will help you out that's for sure

Welcome, itreallyismagic. I like your nickname

As for your question, I think it is a very tough road to start in this business with a pay site. But besides that fact, I understand that the payment processor can help with membership areas.

A common one used in adult is CCBill.

good luck with the learning curve, cheri

CCBill or Paycom can help you set it all up...

but what are you going to do for traffic if you start with a paysite?

An important point, brought up by B O B.

We at Cozy, recommend that you wait until you've learned more about the porn business before opening a paysite. It's kind of like trying to run before you have learned to walk.

B O B mentioned traffic - one major aspect to the success of a paysite. There are tens of thousands of other paysites out there and they know how to get surfers to visit their tours.

Why the big hurry? Wouldn't you rather learn how to create salable pages, garner traffic and perfect your marketing skills before you shell out fees to payment processors, hosts and content providers?

I'd suggest "figuring out" the traffic issue first. Why not start out promoting other sites as an affiliate for a while so you can be sure you'll be able to generate traffic before you dump a bunch of time and money into something that may never make any money?

Job one for sure. Hammers right.
Having said that I started my little site in 2005.
I was told not to. I started with 8 sets and sold nothing for months. Understandably.
I have a affiliate program that nobody joins and my only real advertising is hard links with like minded sites.
With only 70 or so sets and spotty updates I bring in consistantly over $2000 a month now. Pays my mortgage at least.
If money pressure is not an issue - slow and steady wins the day.

If you live in the US it's also very important that you familiarize yourself with 2257 since you are already shooting content.
