Blog -- comments or no comments?
Sorry for all these silly questions.
I'm just wondering if many of you allow comments on your splogs or main blogs. I have a splog and I get nothing but spam comments. So I'm wondering if allowing comments is worth it. Managing comments is a major PITA. So for now I just let the comment submissions expire. Do you find that spam comments end up stealing your traffic for the same keywords? Or do they enrich your page with SEO-relevant text? Anything else I should know about blog comments? |

I would take away the comments on the spam blogs.
Comments are really good on a site that you want to build up a sense of community and that works well with real blogs, the ones that have informative content. If you are having trouble with your comments, do you run something like Akismet or a similar spam killing plugin? They can make your job a lot simpler. |

Spam Karma is a good spam killing plkug in. I turn off comments on splogs but keep them on for real blogs.
I actually get very few comments but I frequently get e-mails from people that want to ask questions that don't relate to a specific post. This in turn gives me ideas for subsequent posts ... and it would give me a lot more if there weren't so many people asking very similar questions
