Newbie sell video and covering expenses...

At first I want to say hi to all and thanks for all the useful information you give here.
I have worked as a photographer (portrait, glamour and commercial) for 7 years, as video editor for 2 years and now I want invest some money in the adult video (softcore) field.

I have all the equipment (HDV camcorder, steadicam, light etc…), I have take a 1 year course on filming and steadicam use, I have write some storyboard but before starting I need at least a rough information on what I can expect from selling this videos at content provider or directly to some selected sites with exclusive right (at first I have no intention to open a member site).

The type of video that I want to produce it’s a short video 5 to 10 minutes (like video-clips), softcore (like playboy but a little more revealing) in hdv 16:9 and with background music. (Like metart or hegre…just a little more sophisticated).
I have estimate a production cost (for a day of filming) of 1000 to 1500 Euro in the Eastern Europe for model + location + make-up artist + clothes and props.
In one day I think I can filming enough material for doing 2 different video (off course I have to add 1-2 day for planning, storyboarding etc. and 1 day for editing).

Anyone here can give me some info on what can I expect to make…
I would be happy if I can cover at least half of the expenses for the first 2 years…it’s this achievable?

Hi there waribo! Sorry for the lack of responses, most here are just affiliates and don't know much about shooting.

Sounds like you know what your doing, and you plan things out well. Just that is a big plus. Trouble I see is, you want to shoot artsy, soft porn stuff. Almost every site out there gives that away for free, even hardcore.

So it might take a lot of marketing and connections to get enough to be worth it. If you had a more narrow niche, like gay, or black or just something more than beautiful women posing naked you would be better off.

Maybe if you can think of a unque way of marketing it, it would be worth it. But just shooting general soft porn, well, there is just so much out there. Good luck!!
