Blog Directories When Launching a New Blog
Can anyone suggest if it's best to submit to blog directories first with a brand new site and then upload the google sitemap or vice-versa, to get that minimal start-up PR boost?

Post to as many as possible, dont forget to sign up to as many social bookmarking sites as possible and submit each end every post to them all.

Hi anotherf. I was actually wondering what's the best timing - before or after uploading the site map?
Yeah I've been playing around with the social bookmarking stuff a bit. Had some success with stumbeupon that was short lived. Delicious and things like that take a long time to build a network. Any others you recommend? |

Sign up with this site onlywire.com then sign up to all the sites it submits to.
To get sucsess you really need multiple accounts with each site and submit links to each in a natural way! I know nothing about orders do it all, now!

I never use Google Sitemaps anymore. Too many bad experiences, both my own and from others.
But if you insist on a sitemap, having PR probably won't have an effect either way in my opinion. |

Nothing is wrong with site maps, try this get three domains or three subdomains on a domain.
Put a site on each. one just leave, one just use site map submission, one just use links from other sites. in a month look at your results. the quickest way by far to get indexed is to ad adsense, if your site dose not break the rules!

Adsense you can't use for porn.
I don't understand. I thought a sitemap would help the spiders. How would not submitting a sitemap to goog hurt? |

Adsense cant be used for porn, i use adsense very effectivly on a pornstar bio site.
Google maps will not hurt, submit a new map every time you update, yahoo and msn also use it. But a link on the right sites, will get you indexed in seconds. I use this tool it seems to work well: http://www.bluehatseo.com/quit-quick-indexing-tool/

PB, it's mainly just my opinion but I have found the less you tell google the better you usually do. The only thing I tell google about my site is what it finds written on my pages and what it sees in the links pointing to me.
As far as hurting you, usually a sitemap only hurts you if you add one to an already existing site. If you use one from the get go, you are usually fine so if you are going to use a sitemap, start as soon as you can. |

Baaaaalls, do you mean my inbox here? Gosh darnit! Sending you a PM now and cleared out some messages. I didn't even know this inbox gets full!
Jim, not letting big G know what I'm up to has worked for splogs - until now. But surely you should do something in terms of notification, particularly for adult so that you'd get crawled sooner? I know you're supposed to get crawled automatically but I mean, how do you start getting more SE hits? I have mainstream blogs that I started stop and stop and gave up on b/c of ADD. I know they;re abandone but... I am building a new blog, with higher quality than just a splog, it's been over 10 days and been posting every day but when I google the site name it says it can't be found. I was undr the impression that submitting the site map will get you crawled. Surely I can't be banned before even launching? |

I'm sure you're not banned!
Did you already get listed on a few directories? If so you should be showing up for your own domain name. If you have no inbound links yet, then 10 days without being indexed is not weird. |

If you don't have any inbound links - is it possible to never get indexed.
I have a mainstream domain on which I put up a few articles while I design and set-up, through up adsense and to this day it has not been indexed, at least 3-4 months , so much for adsense helping you get indexed.

PB, you may want to go the hospital as I think you just had a stroke.
As for the links, you need some inbound links to get indexed. |

I never push a google sitemap. Like jim mentioned above I have seen to many issues arise with them, especially with larger dynamic sites and auto generated sitemaps.

Wow. I may have indeed had a stroke. But that gibberish I was writing was African talk to Razor. Shit, so sitemap is bad? Even for a new blog? Crikey! Well my man and I are off to some hot springs for the next 2 days to recover from said stroke but I still don't get it. Will write from hospital.
Still my mind is blown as to how a sitemap can be bad. Dos? |
