Quid pro quo T-t-t-t-t-t-raffic!

Hey guys!

I'd like to start a little something here because I'm starting to hit a plateau with my traffic. I've reached a certain amount and can't seem to break that barrier...and god knows it ain't that much.

What i'd like to do here is list your methods for garnering traffic. If everyone lists a few things they do, everyone might learn a few things and us noobs might see something super simple that we may have just completely overlooked!

1)Toplists...I have a small TGP, bout 600-1000 uniques a day...still very small, makes a sale every couple of days but what I really use it for is feeding traffic to toplists to bring my banners up for other sites. So for example I'll have a TGP on the same domain as my blog. I'll use the TGP traffic to feed traffic to a toplist that has a banner for my blog (on same domain, same theme) - and my blog traffic converts pretty good.

2)directories...dump em dump em dump em! Once there dumped, forget em! I do mostly blogs and it doesn't take too long to dump to them all and get accepted...however i don't really count on directory traffic much.

3) link exchanges...mostly text link exchanges, however these don't garner very much traffic...they did get me a PR3 site though!

4) Gallery submitting...I submit a few galleries a day for my paysite, and usually 1 gallery per day for a sponsor I'm promoting...I use chameleon submitter, usually post to about 400+ sites per gallery and meh...the traffic is ok...nothing stellar, and doesn't seem to convert very well (no surprise there but its good for branding I suppose)

5) I can't think of much else...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always feel like theres some little thing that I'm totally missing, and not taking advantage of. It simply boggles my mind to get like 100k traffic a day...I mean that is STAGGERING...where the hell does it all come from?!

I can say its growing every day, looking back at my stats each week without fail has been better than the last, even if by just a little bit - so I'm content with that and know I must be doing at least a few things right.

I guess what I'm most worried about is perhaps just overlooking something that might be right under my nose.

I don't expect anyone to give up their super gold secrets, but simply add to the list and give some suggestions that perhaps I and others hadn't thought about.

Oh I also do some yahoo groups stuff, which actually nets me a few sales a week Hope that helps!

Well, EDS you do more things than I do to generate traffic so I probably can't add anything. But I live mostly off of SE traffic since I like to live dangerously.

What I can say is much of it is duplication, at least for me. If one thing works, just do it again and don't stop doing it till it stops working.

I did notice you didn't have freesites on your list. You can give those a try.

On a sidenote EDS: I checked on your permalink issue. If you change from default permalinks to fancy, all the URLs still work. It's when you switch from one type of fancy permalinks to another that you lose the URLs. But still, backup your site just in case it blows up.

You listed 5 methods for building traffic none of which were a blog. I guess you forgot to mention that what you were talking about is ways to generate traffic to your blog. Personally I consider a blog a way to generate traffic to pay sites and to make money from advertising so usually when someone talks about ways to generate traffic they're talking about traffic that goes directly to the sites they're promoting which is usually either a sponsor's site or their own paysites.

Sorry if I misunderstood the purpose of this thread.

Sorry about that man, I think I misunderstood or assumed - thats my bad!

I use these same methods for my paysite as well as my blogs, so I guess what I mean by garner traffic I mean to generate traffic to sites and then filter that traffic through your sites to your sponsors/paysites.

Traffic is people, where are the people now, on social sites! Find ways to get some of this traffic. Set up accounts naturally gain recognition, then introduce ways to make $$$

There also a good way to get more SE traffic.
