Can you just blog and make good $$$

Everyone here knows I'm working on a blog about cross dressers/trannys/transgender etc. I also will make a bunch of smaller blogs, and work on a paysite I may make one day.

Most in the adult world have made their $$ off free sites, TGP galleries, top list and all that. Some still think of blogging as very new. I am no good at making galleries. I also don't like the thought of throwing as many tgp galleries as I can make out there, hoping if I throw enough stuff out there I'll get some hits.

I prefer to make some very nice, well thought out blogs, maybe portals and other hybrid type of sites out there. I like to write, and think I'm ok at it.

Do you think someone can make good $$ never making any galleries to TGP's, never making free sites. Just do good blogs and mini sites, doing a good job on them, and even not showing too much, say using softcore and well written text?

Absolutely!

And that is actually also (one "l") the way to go in the future. Quality are, and will allso beat massproduced crap over time. (Not saying that galleries and freesites are crap...but most are mass produced).

We've already been answering the same question in another thread but yes, of course you can make good money and even a living from blogging and even from a single blog. I listed two examples in the other thread.

I was about to trounce the idea of making money via a blog but ran into a colleague's site that was a paysite and TGP type thing that he just converted to a blog. His layout and strategy is brilliant!

He gets tons of traffic and I'm sure many signups. He doesn't produce his own toon content like me but he's using RSS like a mofo! Well laid out, all links go to his affiliate programs and interrelated links and he's good to go.

When I looked at the thousands of toons I've got I realized I've enough content for three years easy and that's before modifying it and stretching it out 5 times at that.

So I'll be busy believe me!

Well, I guess you "can", but I thought you were asking if it's likely, and also took note of the words "GOOD $$".

Look, McDonalds makes billions selling hamburgers, but that doesn't mean I'm going to open a fast food restaurant.

I don't know if I need to elaborate more and I'm not trying to shoot you down, but if I thought someone could make "GOOD" money dressing up in women's clothing and starting a blog, you can bet your ass I'd give it a shot personally.

Yes I know what you mean, I was just poking a little fun at ya. I have an idea in my mind as far as how I can start some blogs, mix them with mini sites, and see what happens. I think too many keep blogs, sites, mini sites, clip sites and all that too separate.

There are no rules saying you can't mix things up, make something different while keeping things clean so the surfer knows what to do. There are so many tools out there that work with lots of different things, no sense in limiting yourself. I'll report what I find out. Unless it's REALLY successful, in which case I'll wait till I get my first mil out of it.

You're definitely on the right track. The web is all about things you can't find elsewhere, but you also have to keep in mind what else on the web you're competing against if you want to make money off the web.

And of course ultimately what works for you.

Even with all the info we have now, i'd still personally have a tough time believing in phone sex or the pet rock, but the laughs on me I guess.

I've never seen any tutorials that explain anything more than the common sense basics when it comes to blogging. I'm always available for consulting but I doubt there's much I can tell you that you don't already know or that I haven't talked about before, unless it's one of my secrets of course, in which case I don't share those for any amount of money.

I've said this before, but the number one tip I can give anyone is to find something they are good at and blog about it and then use Adsense.

Of course, the real secret to doing well with a real blog is to be a good writer or at least an excellent source of information on the topic in which case, many people just won't have what it takes.

What Hammer said. Even though I have yet to make any blogs I can see how the goods one are made. In fact I am glad I have waited so long so I can study them more.

It comes down to making a good, big, informative site. Too many want to slap a few post on a page and then forget about it. You can make a little on a poor one, and make a thousand of those, but is that what you really want to do?

Also think of all that side bar as real estate. Any blank space is wasted space. I don't mean plaster banners all over it. Use small banners, some text links, break it up with a "thought of the day" or something, fill your page up! Don't just have a huge video saying CLICK HERE on it.

Also make your blog deep, as in more sections, or whatever you call them in a blog (I said I have not made any yet). Divide your sections into specific topics that are related to what your site is about. Again, use the side bar space to push your affiliate sites, not just what your main post is.

Have lots of links to outside affiliates. Make some little mini sites, like a cross between a blog and a real page. There are Soooo many things you can do! Push movies, DVD's, sex toys, lingerie, paysites, etc. Plus all the mainstream stuff. Vacation sites, web hosting, tracks eraser, lots of stuff.

But, I have not made any, so what do I know?

Whachoo talkin' bout Wilis? Adding Adsense code is a breeze, but if you want to pass it up because it's too hard...

Use Wordpress, it's a piece of cake to ad.

Hammer I tried adsense with WordPress. Pain in the ass with the theme I'm using. I do need to ad adsense to my mainstream sites. I just checked and they've gained in PR real fast.

Waking up in the morning is harder than using Adsense. Well, this might not apply to all the heavy drinkers on here, but you get what I mean.

Adsese and Wordpress are about the easiest things to mix on earth. You can either use widgets or ready-to-go wordpress plugins made just for adsense.
