wordpress image gallery plug ins

I normally build with joomla.

However, I am building a wordpress site.

A: because i want to know how
B: because i think it has many advantages right now for SEO (you guys told me, now i believe)

So, Im looking for plug ins and suggestion for adding functionality to my new site.

Can I get a roll call on some of your favorite plugins. I need advice on a good image manager that will placing images, build galleries....etc.

or chime in with any plugins or updates you like.

Ive started doing some SEO basic changes for it, like permalinks and sitemap updates.

Thanks, LincolnLog

It may not...

It may not?

However, I have worked with joomla for awhile now (mambo days). Anyway, it just seems to me that google and the rest of blogging world is very wordpress friendly. I was able to set up a wordpress site very quickly and have some seo url rewrite mods in place in no time. The same setup on my joomla site is more difficult.

So, it may not be better, but it seems a bit easier and appears there are more blogging/social networking/tagging mods and plugins for WP.

So if you think that, url rewrites and smart titles and tagging are important SEO factors then I would say WP has some advantage.

I would prefer to work in joomla, it can do more, it seems more flexible. On the other hand WP seems a bit more organized and straight forward and purposeful in reference to blogging and blogging structured sites.

If you have read this far, this information is the result of me running a dozen or so joomla sites and only a couple of worldpress sites. so take it with a grain of salt

I find my self struggling with some very basic things in WP, but then find I was looking to hard... its often right in front of me.

Now do you have a suggestion for me for a wordpress image gallery plugin???

However I have not implemented WordPress yet.

Joomla 1.5 stable will be released by January (I hope). Once that is released I will make my final decision on which software to use. Right now, I'm in no rush and wish to focus on completing my TGP project.

links

ill send you some links of projects im working on.
My joomla sites look much better graphically then any of the wordpress ive seen IMO... but traffic is king... and they will tell you around here that some pretty ugly stuff will earn$$$

For me, I just like working in joomla.
But I want to add wordpress to my resume and want to be able to take advantage of its SEO power.

Overkill

Gallery is just too big, I don't need something like that to post a few images and manage some smaller galleries.

I should wait and see how things fall out, with wordpress 2.3 out, every plug-in seems to be having some problems.

So ill keep looking.

I did a search for some of the tags I added to an article three days ago, and its getting picked up by google.

Very fast to get crawled, indexed and pushed up!
I'm impressed.

From what I've read, WP is better for SEO than Joomla but it's a matter of opinion I suppose and I do plan on putting up a couple of sites in Joom.

As far as plugins, all in one seo pack, add meta tags (you can use either but I've used both on one site with no problem), & a similar posts plugin are the basics ones that I've used. There's also ultimate tag warrior and a couple of others that Hammer likes. You can search for my old posts asking for the same advice.

Tags are now built in

Ultimate tag warrior did not work for me, I dont think it has been updated to 2.3.

On that note, wp 2.3 has tagging built in now, you still need some sort of manager to make it take full advantage of it.

I used simpletag and like the results alot.
I also looked at the seo all in one pack, but had already installed other plugs and updates that it takes care of.

Here is a link about 2.3 tagging.

A really good gallery plugin that I use is NextGen Gallery. It works great with Wordpress 2.3.1
