Another Video Editing Question
Okay, here goes?
You know when you're using programs like premiere or wmv (newer dv versions) and you get that big black surrounding around the main image. Is there a way to get rid of that for an export? I've tried to crop out and trim but it actually works on the image itself. The newer dv content doesn't have this problem but all the pre dv stuff like older mpegs and avi's and stuff center the image in that big black box and I was wondering if there was a way to fix this and not blow the image up and the pixels out. Thanks

I've never spent much time on Premiere but I'm guessing it has to do with your preferences - e.g. before you import, set up your settings to the proper screen ratio that complies to the original format but maybe you've already tried that?

?the easiest way is with a video screen capture program. something that allows you to select the capture area on you screen before you start recording. then edit the capture in a high quality editor. sorry, no more help without figuring out why you want to do this.

My problem is that everything now is default preference hd dv and the early stuff is basic older mpeg stuff. I think you confused my question because I have no problem getting the material, just chopping it correctly. This might apply to one site that has it's one personal movie player though. It would give me somewhat original content for a site most people probably can't figure out how to promote this way so if you have any info on screen capture saving for videos that's cool. Although I've already tried it on conversions sites and these particular files can't be converted

There must be a setting where you chose your aspect ratio and pixel ratios when you import so that it will be flush with export size?

If the movie was rendered wrong - ie: with the black box around it, you're stuck with it. The black box is part of the vid. You can blow it up and crop (reducing quality), but why bother. If you want to just crop and resize and your done.
