wordpress and embedding problems

I have installed the latest version of wordpress as well as 2.02, neither one of them will allow me to insert the embedding code properly. I hit the html sheet, copy the embed code from youtube, then hit update and publish.

when i check the site the page structure is all messed up, i then go back in to edit post and see that the code i put in is now renested and wordpress is closing tags on me automatically (differently with different wordpress versions). I can't make the code post properly.

Any Ideas?

For some reason, he has a buy up there but that could be for an advanced version. Mine was free. If you can't download the free, let me know and I'll try and zip a copy for you and email it to you.

I have found with youtube code you have to write your post, then switch to to the code view, paste the code with one space above and one space below then click publish right then. If you edit the text or make any changes after you insert the cod e and before you publish, it breaks the layout.

porn punk, i downloaded the plugin and all it is doing for me is adding a link to the plugin page?

jim, what version of wordpress are you using? I tried your suggestion with 2.0.2 and you can not update the code window without hitting update which screws up the code.

I'm on 2.2.2 but I have blogs as old as 2.1 and it works.

I don't have any blogs with 2.02 installed so I can't check it but that may be the issue.

What you can try is write the post, then go to USERS then de-select visual rich editor at the bottom. Then go back to the post and paste in the embedd code, click publish and you should be good.

You may need to publish it or save in between switching from the code to the visual editor.

Looks, like you have it all taken care of, but just in case...

Did you activate the plug-in on the plug ins page and check your write page tool bar for a video icon?

Maybe I'm using a newer version of wordpress or that's a newer plug in.

yes, I did all the above steps.

I am abandoning the plugin as there is no need to reinvent the wheel.
