how do i keep an embedded video from playing as soon as my page is loaded?

Why don't you not embed it and place a pick linked to the content so they have to at least download?

Are you running word press and or have a media player installed?

I think swf are all self contained and have controls and parameters build in. But, you can use media players to stream your files and they will have options like (autoplay on or off)

Im converting my sponsors content to FLV files so I have that kind of control, and small file sizes and its hard to download.

Im pretty sure swf have to have been built to pause otherwise they just play or loop.

I don't understand the benefit to this. Why do you want them to entertain themselves on yours (or even your sponsers) bandwidth unless it's necessary (such as tgp or free site submissions)?

I guess its a question of do you want to build your own tours or send them on to the sponsor. Im doing both really.

I have samples of some of the content embedded just like ballsdeep is doing. But instead of a 9 meg file I reduce it to 2 or less, it then will play right from the page its embedded in, so you dont have to load more images and content (that reduces server load) and after it is loaded, they can play a few more times with out any additional load on the server, its how google and youtube do it (im assuming they know something about managing bandwidth and content)

ohh the movies dont preload they are on demand, so if they never click on them it doesnt use bandwidth either.

I am brand new to this, am I assuming wrongly that on a porn site you are going to show some samples that are not 100% hosted by your sponsor?

You can also reduce server load by saving files on your sponsors free space and streaming it through your site. I hope i have to do that someday.

It looks like a media player for wordpress and handles a lot of media types, it may give you media the options you are looking for, and there may be other players out there as well... you might look on version tracker for some.

OK I read it through my scotch goggles. The anarchy thing seems to be a flash player you can use to embed videos - but you have to sign up for their free blogging service. Sounds great, but it doesn't look like they allow porn blogs?

I have some videos I want to put on my blog that I also don't want to share just yet, so I don't feel like dumping them into yuvutu, metacafe, or what not, or youtube where it will be a freeforall b/c I want my site to be the one place to see the vid, and then I go wider. I did this once a while back with a pay video hosting service - it was only $20 or so for a year - but now that site seems to be dead, although my vids still play. Any other servcies like that? Where you can upload and embed video but one that doesn't give the viewer an option to share and where it won't be part of the public video sharing site?

You need to package the video into a player, sometimes called a container.

Adobe Flash has many built in, there are also third party options like Swish Video and a bunch of others but I've only used Flash CS3 and Swish.

Its popular to advertise that your product will remotely stream content from other services (like you tube - who will not allow adult content), but most players will stream directly from your own server, you just have to format it correctly and have an absolute path to the file.

Since balldeep started this with something for wordpress in mind here is a link to the page that has a bunch of wordpress specific plugins for streaming video content.

let us know which one you get set up and if you like it or not, I use joomla... but have to help some clients with wordpress on occasion so I would like to know what you end up using.
