Blog Displays Differently in Browsers
I am having a strange issue with a blog that I just brought online. I normally use firefox to do my work, but am having some issues with it kind of "hanging", so I thought I would use IE. When I brought up my blog, it comes up funky - you have to scroll way to the bottom to see it. I pull it up in Firefox and it looks fine. The blog is jizzbombs.hotpornstarlets.com if someone else could see if they see what I am seeing with the browsers.
Thanks for any insight. |

Are you using rss feeds?
Some posts from feeds are not validated and will cause problems in IE. In that case you have to try to delete(disable) one and one posts from you're frontpage until you get the post that causing the problem. The same really goes if you write the post for you'rself. Allso, try to remove ynuhats recip in the left sidebar, and repace it with a link(i think he accept that...just shoot him an email, and he will respond to you pretty quickly). That recip is wider than the column, and will cause you're center column to be pushed to the bottom. If none of this work, i have no clue waht is causing it.

I am not sure if I understand the post part - how do you disable a post so I can repost it? Thanks |

I think I see what is causing this issue - for that particular wp template, I also have a teen site and had not looked at it in IE and it has the same kind of thing going on, not as severe, but lists are messy. I am using a plugin "Executable PHP Widget" and it appears if I use that, it is jumbling things up in IE. I have another template that I use it, but doesn't seem to have jumbled it up in IE....not sure if it is the placement of the PHP Code widgets or what the trick is - Firefox displays things cleanly - anyone else seen this out there by chance? Thanks

I was checking on my latest blog right now, that are using the Samsarin PHP Widget and i got issues is IE7 as well. After disabling the plugin the issues still were there, so in my case it was some fix that had to be done with the stylesheet.

My guess would have been that it was the ynuahayt banner which is too wide for the left column and IE is less forgiving that FF. You should put anything in a column that is wider than the column. I know you said you tried taking it out and it didn't work, but you should take it out anyway since it's too wide.

Sometimes when I'm making a theme I get that same problem while I'm testing it in different browsers. Without fail, it almost always looks good in firefox, and looks like what you have going on in IE. 99% of the time it involves tweaking the css so that it renders properly in both browsers. Firefox and IE handle margin and padding slightly differently by default. Playing with some of these attributes (or adding them if they aren't present) in the stylesheet can usually fix the problem.
Some theme authors are hobbyists who use firefox, and their friends and intended readers use firefox too, and so a few authors don't consider cross-browser compatibility often while designing and never even see their themes in IE. Hammer's right about taking out that banner, though. even if the padding and margin are good for both browsers, that will still cause problems. First take that out and then dive into the stylesheet. |

i see bullets in IE which leads me to believe you have an unclosed tag somewhere, take a look at your sidebar code.
