how is your luck with thehun?

hey everyone, what's your average listings on thehun? I'm getting about 2 galleries posted a month although it seems everything i submit gets accepted even if it takes 3 months.

what's your ratio's? and is any of it converting?

Get accepted now and then, but I don't submit that often due to hosting issues i need to sort out.

With one particular sponsor I did have some luck about 1:600, but the the rest zero.

What are your ratios like?

Haven't tried the hun and probably never will. If this business is going to survive it has to think of new ideas for everything, that includes promotion, content, payment options, etc. I think the hun may still be making a lot of money for a while through selling advertising space but I have a feeling that in this day and age it's a waste of bandwidth for the affiliate. And Mr Hun might not be in business for too long either. I thought Penthouse magazine folding was a surprise.

I'm getting off the subject b/c the chianti is kicking in but I'm coming to the conclusion that shooting original content - if it's truly original - may be the best option, but you have to have a decent amt to invest and you do have to be TRULY original and I don't mean a new variation on ass to mouth.

If you look around the message boards of porn fans, not a single one will say "this is a great site that I signed up for", they'll post a link to the rapidshare torrent feed.

I also think that pay site owners have GOT to stop using rebills and always offer an option for a non recurring payment option. I am POSITIVE this scares off 90% of potential customers.

I think I did 1:35,000 or something like that. It was my first ever gallery and the wrong niche for the hun so that had a lot to do with the poor performance. If I submitted again I'm sure I would do better but I'm not into that sort of thing.

I can see how if you made it your goal or something you could turn Hun sumbissions profitable with a little trial and error.

You are wrong , webmasters wait for months to have a gallery listed and lots of webmasters don't even get listed. Why would they bother if they weren't getting any sales for their efforts.

It is simplistic to argue that because the business is changing the Hun's business model and the Hun itself is under threat - the way I see it The Hun has a strong brand, low overhead so even if traffic levels fall and the business undergoes a major paradigm shit - this Hun will be in business for a long time to come. Just because Microsoft usurped IBM's position didn't mean that IBM went out of business.

I was just expressing my opinion. I start practically every post saying I am new and inexperienced, but I'm getting into some interesting insights from the research that I'm doing that may perhaps be of value to others, or not, and anyone can take it or leave it.

With a 1:35,000 conversion at best - not to mention the months of waiting that you spoke of, seems like a lot of effort and bandwidth cost for little return.

Microsoft didn't destroy IBM nor did digital photography kill Kodak but both of those companies planned ahead - and they also planned ahead a little too late, and they are not what they used to be.

Interesting you say that Phuckbunny. I was wondering that myself. So, I offered $19.95 recurring, $22.95 non-recurring.
Suprisingly about 75% of members opt for the $19.95 deal. I guess they save three bucks and my cancel page is very easy to find (that's important to me). Crazy thing is, is that I'm going crazy moving, buying and selling places, and a whole lot of other things going on. So much that I haven't updated my site in ages. And I do feel guilty about that. BUT, even though I haven't been updating my rebills are about 30%.
I think a lot of people join sites and forget that they've even done so. I'm thinking of just putting up a note saying I can't update until November and offering a non-recurring flat rate of $9.95 until then. At least I'll sleep better.
BTW, I'm glad I'm not the only one who get's into too much wine and hop's on this board!

each gallery i submit gets anywhere between 40k-90k hits, I think i'm in the wrong niche for the hun, although i just got a gallery accepted that features a 1$ trial that i hope to have better luck with.

The hun is still solid traffic but there is major competition of course and it is tgp traffic.

I'm not sure what all this talk is about reinventing the wheel and this new magical form of traffic I keep hearing about.

I keep seeing pictures of the Wright Brothers and those people jumping off cliffs with feathers pasted to their arms with a running leap.

One good thing about the Hun(unlike most other TGPs) is that you can link to your hub/blog whatever.

BD, you are right, traffic is traffic and even crappy TGP traffic can be converted.

Must say I agree with you on that one , your average surfer doesn't even realise if he is on a TGP , link list or blog when surfing - he is just looking for porn.

To have a level of success requires having several traffic sources and managing them so that not all your traffic eggs are in one basket.

I was just thinking what Razor was saying. Nowadays with blogs, a listing at the Hun should target your blog instead. If you have FREE programs then blast them ads all over you Hun submitted gallery and Blogs.

I always avoided posting at The Hun because of the insane bandwidth costs. A new host I have takes care of that for sure. I can do several Hun submissions a month and not eat up my bandwidth.

I've submitted a couple of galleries to the Hun recently just to see how things work out. If it adds to my blogs and converts, I'm good.

I suppose we're straying off subject, but yes, Lana, in my humble opinion, in case anyone gives a toss, is that when they forget they have a membership, and then get rebilled, is one of the reasons why conversions suck and it burns people out on purchasing porn. Someone boozed up, looking at porn, penis in hand, whips out the plastic, doesn't read the fine print and they get charged with a rebill on their next credit statement when they're sober and they will get sore. I am confident, again IMO that this just part of the reason why people feel like they don'thave to pay for porn! This was obviously more of a problem with ibill and other stuff years ago but I have a lo-fi sponsor that I make sales with every day who only does non-recurring and it works.

IMO I would not put up a note saying you won't be ready to update until September. I still make money from sponsors who haven't added any new content in over a year and probably never will - main star went to grad school or whatever the hell lol - checking the stats, the signups do drop dramatically with a site that doesn't offer regular updates, even without rebills. Not sure what to suggest other than shoot some content and keep it in a backlog to post periodically, much like a blog but you may ormay not be losing signups if you can't do anything until Nov. Well, you probably will still be getting signups but you don't wwant the general idea to be floating around that the site will no longer be updated? Even though you can probably never update it again and still get a check in the mail each week. But a paysite needs to stay active I think and giving the non recurring thign just b/c you won't be able to update in a while probably won't make a difference on way or another, IMO. But that's just my guess.

Well one reason for non conversions from the Hun is his rules. If he'd cut us some slack we could make some scratch but I can understand why he has those rules. However for us old timers I wish he'd cut some slack.

I wish many TGP owners would change the rules but I know it's tough since people will start to try to cheat.

I've made some flash galleries and nobody will accept them even though they convert great for me and look pretty sharp.

The problem with TGP rules is they make galleries the perfect mini-porn site instead of a real marketing tool.
