Should I just block my RSS feeds.
I find it almost impossible to imagine that any surfer would subscribe to a porn blog RSS feed. Heck, I don't even think most surfers know what RSS is. Seems like the only people who use it are the ones who steal my content to fill their own blogs.
So my question is, should RSS feeds just be blocked or eliminated on porn blogs and does anyone know of ANYBODY who has actually subscribed to an RSS feed as a surfer, porn or mainstream? Because I have yet to meet one. |

The point of subscribing to an RSS feed is so that you don't need to visit each blog you like on a daily basis, unless there's an article you find interesting and want to read. I use Google to organize my feeds and check several times a day. When I see an article headline that sounds interesting, I click it to read the article.

Balls_Deep, are those subscribers or just other blogs stealing your feed and posts?
Hammer, I think it's mostly webmasters that subscribe but maybe more people do it than I think. I'm mostly concerned with other blogs stealing my feeds. I write stories on some of my blogs and don't want othe blogs getting credit for my work in the eyes of the SE's. Does anyone know what code I would use to block a specific blog from recieving my RSS once I catch them. Could I do that with a .htaccess entry? |

I recommend using http://www.feedburner.com for your feeds. They provide excellent stats.

I hate seeing my writing on other blogs as well, never had anyone change my affilate codes though so it's not that big of a deal to me. I do know some people change their feeds to summary instead of full post so even if it gets taken, they only get a little bit.

I have my rss set to summary because I want people to read enough to get interested but have to visit my blog to read the rest.
It really depends on what we're talking about in this thread though. Most porn blog owners should probably not offer rss, unless like Gr8 said, it's just a summary, but if you have an affiliate program then providing rss feeds to your affiliates to add your content to their blogs would be a good thing.

I've seen my post on a site or two, but like gr8 said, the affiliate links never change. They are just using my post as content. What the hell, it's more exposure. I'm sure that most of my feed subscribers are interested in reading my post at the time they subscribe and not just webmasters stealing my stuff.

The thing is, that if only 3 or 4 sites steal your posts that can be 24 instances of your content being duplicated. If you are low on deep links that means those pages will go supplemental which sucks if you are living on SE traffic. Too me, it's not worth the few extra sales since they leave the ref codes as opposed to the traffic those extra pages could bring in day after day.
I think I will just change to summary as was mentioned earlier. |

Try to make sure you have an affilate link in the first few words, then you can get the clicks without sacrificing much of your content. If I am writing about a specific model I do it like this.
http://www.shefucksblacks.com/interr...-shane-diesel/ you get the idea, if they pull a summary feed, I at least have an affilite link up front. New blog too, lookin' for trades yall. |

This isn't "over-concern"? I mean I know you can change affiliate codes with programs like autoblogger pro and others, but it hardly seems much different than just downloading a page and duplicating it with minor changes to make it your own.
Why is this more threatening? Isn't a subscriber going to subscribe to view updating posts where a webmaster will probably know enough to alter any feeds he pulls anyway? Still getting this whole blog thing down so this is an actual question, not an opinion - just in case i have my tone off.
