Almost 2 years and stiil no money
Hi Guys,
Its almost 2 years what I have started my adult site. www.sweet-alice.com Since I earn aprox. 100$ per month I am thinking to give up my own site and open in with experience company like: southern-charms.com or http://www.theadultcoalition.com/ What do you think about that? Do you know any other company? Every opinion appreciated. |

I personally think SC sucks, but anyway you look at it, if you can't generate traffic, a website isn't going to make money.
But, before anyone can offer any really decent advice, we need to know what your conversion rate is and whether it's the site that doesn't make money or the fact that you just don't have any traffic. Both are fixable, but it's far easier to fix a tour so it converts the traffic you already have than it is to generate the traffic in the first place. Especially for a solo model site.

Looks like you're own site. Don't get it. I've made more money with less to work with. I'd go with Hammer's advice. Get some traffic.

I agree with the above posts.
What is your daily traffic? I did a quick search on Google and found about 30 sites with your domain linked on them and most of them probably wouldn't send traffic that would convert that great. That was just a very rudimentary check but based on that I would think your traffic levels are very low. You may just need to build traffic. |

Hi allice, If you go over to southern-charms.com don't forget to stick a big "L" on your forehead!
I agree with the others, read books, check the forums and ask questions and before long you'll have the knowledge to build traffic.

Thank you all for trying to help. I have to agree with you that traffic makes the money. But my traffic is very low.
In May Ive got 85556 hits. I dont have any conversion rate with anybody. All I do is exchanging banners with similar sites like mine. Recently I inserted rotator on my index site. Thats all. What would you do first, if you were me? Do you know any free counter+stat? Thanks again Allice |

What do you mean you don't know your conversion rate? Simply take 85556 and divide it by the number of signups for that month.
However, I seriously doubt that your pay site got over 85,000 unique hits. You are either talking about raw hits and don't understand how to read stats, or you're including traffic to galleries. If you're talking about server hits, then 85,000 hits could actually be less than 10,000 unique visits for an entire month. But, even with 10,000 hits and a lousy conversion rate of 1:1,000 you'd still have made 10 sales. You need to provide us with some real numbers and make sure you're understanding what we mean by hits, before we can offer any advice. If you are uncomfortable posting numbers, feel free to PM them to me. p.s. If you're having trouble reading your server log stats, I suggest adding an invisible counter like http://www.masterstats.com to your index and main page. That will show you a fairly accurate count of the number of PEOPLE coming to your site, which is what we need to know, not the number of HITS.

Yesterday I remember seeing a statcounter on the bottom of the first page that read "1716"
Not sure if that resets or is a running tally. If it's total traffic, then $100 a month of 2000 visitors is pretty good actually. |

Hi Allice
With 7410 uniques at $9.95 a pop making $100.00 a month you're converting at 1:745. While that's not great, it's not terrible either. Like the guys say - you need more traffic. You're only averaging 245 visits a day. Also (and I know this is a tricky balance) at $9.95 non-recurring, that says to your visitors that you don't have much to offer inside. There's a few posts on this site, mine included where people have said their sign-ups have gone up when they've raised the price. Maybe you might need a little punch, more glam in your design. Also you have too many sample pics for the same sets. Maybe fewer pics of more sets. You say you have a video section, maybe a little sample video just to prove it. You've got CCBill with Visa - drop TicketsClub, you don't need them and they'll only bring you down. Listen to the guys on this board. They've helped me bring my conversions way up. They know what they're talking about. Good luck!! EDIT: Ooops, I just noticed you do have a video sample. It's hard to notice the link. But your sample is just asking the guys to join. You've got to show them what's actually inside. Allice, if nothing else get an external mic for you camera. Sound is very important.

I think Lana gives some good advice to help optimize your tour.
Based on what you are saying I wouldn't give up just yet unless you are bleeding money like crazy. But since it's a personal site I'm assuming your overhead isn't crippling or anything. With those low traffic levels and a far from optimized tour your still making some money which would lead me to believe you have potential there to increase your earnings. As for buidling traffic, that's a pretty deep subject but even just doing a simple blog where you talk about your updates will probably double your traffic pretty quickly. Good Luck, P.S. What's with that pop-up on the warning page? Unless your making a killing from it I would try to lose that. |

I think you could make a lot more money just by working hard at improving your tour pages and changing your membership price.
Have you submitted your site to review sites yet? If you haven't, when you get your site all tweaked up, then submit to lots of review sites, they send good quality traffic, and then of course you have links back from other websites, which is always good. Lots of people will help you with good advice if you stick around and ask lots of questions. I'd be happy to give a few pointers on your tour, and there are lots of people here that can give advice on traffic. While $100 per month isn't a lot, and two years seems like a very long time, if you ride this out and work hard, you will probably get yourself over the newbie hump. It can take a long time to get anywhere, and I'm betting you could be making a lot more money soon. |

Yep, Allice PM'd me her stats and it looks like she got a little over 7,000 unique visits for the month of May. I didn't see her mention how many signups she had in May so I'm not sure how Lana came up with a conversion rate, but the primary reasons for the lack of income are traffic and the low cost of membership.
The first thing to do is to improve the tour. For one thing, I'd dump all the chatter on the main page about the kids and talking about how you don't think about sex all day. To a horny surfer there is nothing sexy at all about that introduction, it's a turn off. Unless you don't update often enough, $9.95 is way too low and you should raise that to $19.95. The first assumption a surfer is going to make when they see a price of less than $10 is the the owner must not think much of their site. Do not put the price on your main page. Make them go to the join page to find out what it costs to join. The 'friends' page is a huge traffic leak and I don't like the way you have it so when I click 'Videos' it pops your password login window. You should tell them how many videos they get and how often you update. The way it is now you seem to be saying you have videos, but aren't willing to talk about them on the tour. If I was a surfer, as soon as that password window popped when I clicked to find out about your videos, I'd split. Finally, I'm not sure how I fee about the fact that the text for the site was written by someone for whom English is not their first language. If you actually explained what country you were from right up front, it might be quaint, but personally I would suggest having someone proof read the site. Once you have a website that will convert at more like 1:300, then you need to work on getting traffic, because right now you're not even getting enough to make a sale a day at a good conversion rate. It looks like you're getting around 250 hits a day.

My suggestion for the first tour page is to move all of your sample images from the bottom of the page to the top. Give people pictures with a bit of text. People don't like to read, they like to be teased visually.
Hammer has given you some extremely good tips. |
