For those of you that have mainstream or non-nude blogs, I've got a little Google traffic experiment going that you might be interested in.

HAHAHA oh man! Too bad this is going to take off just like the million dollar pixel advertising did and be worth nothing eventually.

I'm super interested in seeing how long it takes you to get to number one, and how long you can hold the spot!

I'm not sure if you meant that as an insult or not, but I see zero comparison.

Sure, the idea of getting ranked #1 on Google for 'world's smartest man' is the tongue in cheek part, but if enough people list their blogs and all add the link to their sites to send traffic to the page, everyone listed will get some traffic, and unlike the million dollar home page, it costs them nothing.

Also, unlike the million dollar home page, you don't get a tiny little graphic that is lost among thousands of other tiny little graphics, you get the name of your blog listed in a randomly rotating list, where everyone has the same shot at traffic and the same shot at being listed near the top of the list.

Again, unlike the million dollar home page, anyone that adds their link to the page will get PR benefit. If everyone follows my tip and also copies the list and adds it to their site, that could lead to some very good PR and also some serious Technorati benefit.

Hardly worth nothing.

No no, I didn't mean it as an insult.

What I meant is that like any other great idea, it's going to catch on. Soon there will be a LOT of people using this technique to get themselves listed as number one for all kinds of things.

And because of that, would it be surprising if Google found a way to stop such things from happening?

Maybe they wouldn't, or perhaps couldn't.

I think it's funny, and rather clever.

And I do know why it differs from the million dollar pixel thing.

Thanks Monica, I was pretty sure I was misinterpreting what you said.

Like I said, the getting listed number one on Google is just a small part of the concept and more or less just for fun while at the same time finding out if it's possible to get a high ranking based solely on inbound links with no real effort at SEO.

It should work. The google algo is so heavily weighted towards inbound links. This was their brainstorm to solve the problem of on-site SEO like keyword stuffing and such.

ATTENTION GOOGLE: I personally find Hammer's experiment to be absolutely despicable as I and all my sites respect the sanctity of the Google results and the integrity of the Google search algorithms. Please don't hurt me.
