Judgement Call

Give me a judgement call on this.
My site
Lanas Lingerie Tease has a decent amount of exclusive content.
Am I playing outside the rules by creating a completely differant url, marketted in a completely different way with ultimately the same content?
I don't know if this is common practice or a pariah move.

My personal opinion is it would depend on whether you are trying to double dip into your existing subscriber pool and trick them into signing up for something they think is different, or marketing to a completely different niche that wouldn'tbe exposed to your existing tour.

If you are just trying to market to a different niche, I think it is a great idea. You could make a tour that promotes the new niche and keep your existing tour. Both would point to the same join page/members area. Its really no different from making multiple niche tours for the same webcam sponsor.

Hey there Lana. You mean if you have two sites, and the main content is the same? From the surfer view I guess it's ok, as long as what your saying is inside is true. I guess you could have 10 different sites all using the same content as long as the members get what they want.

But I don't see how you can really advertize two different niches. I mean, your content is you, in lingerie,, uh,, and out of it! So, how can you fit that into two different niches?

What you're needing to do is market different niches of the Lingerie fetish.
So you go and grab some feeder domain names using such keywords like, bra, panties, stockings and so on.
You use those names to set up feeder blogs/or sites (like a tour) using those targeted keywords and the content you have featuring it.
So lanainleather.com would target the leather stuff you have, but would still go into your main paysite for the join.

Your not tring to con the surfer in any way, you're showing them the different content you already feature. But this way you narrow the target down.

And for SEO, Best to do these on a different host then your paysite...

These feeder as I call them, would be both.
New domain names/url
and to do a different hosting company. So hosts like DH work well, do a basic account and you can run as many new domains as you need.
lanasbra.com
lanaspanties.com
and so on and so on, these then backlink into the paysite thru a tour, gallery and to the join page(s).

A domain like lanaspanties.com would target panty keywords and content and if possible link back into the paysite on a panty targeted page.
Feeder blogs work very well for this and url's as such.

Lana...I think you are on to a good idea and I think what upallnight is saying is pretty solid. You would be tightening your niche down into sub-niches. The tighter your niche...the better the conversion ratio (no pun intended). For example...

Midgets are going to convert well for those into that as trannies are going to convert well for those into that. If you have midget trannies then the ratios would be fantastic because the niche would be so tight. The number of hits is going to be way down but the ratios would be divine.

I might be on to something myself...anybody know of any tranny midget content providers ;-)

And yes, it's a very common practice, especially with big companies.

I know of studios that do this with box covers too. They will have 1 movie and make 2 or moer box covers for it. Each that appeal to a different audiance. And it works.

IMO, you don't need to have a different host. Serving the same content through different domains on the same host will work fine and has a lot more positives than negatives.

First off ... sorry. I just hate when I ask for advice and then let a thread hang for ages
I went down to Vegas for a few days, then came back and couldn't log in for 5 days. Monica or Titmowse fixed that.
But then I went to Boston to cheer a friend in the marathon and now I'm back.

Anyway!

I'm not too up on the sub-domain thing. What would be better -
panties.lanaslingerietease.com or a whole new lanaspanties.com?
I could split into about 5 genres and once in the site the member would get all the videos anyways.

What I was also thinking was languages. I speak German French and Italian fluently. Would it be worth having mirror sites that were mysite.de, mysite.fr and mysite.it? Do you think guys actually look for sites in their own language or do they just go english because that's where the action is?

I've got to get more exposure. I'm happy with conversions but my traffic sucks.

I'm just now starting to look at blogs seriously, but try and film, photo, edit and do everything else with a paysite THEN write about it everyday AND promote other sites on the blog too!
Oh, and then a day job.

As far as seo goes, using a subdomain or folder would be better for the keyword panties. (unless of course you can get panties.com)

lanaslingerietease.com/panties/
Then set up the subdomain to use that folder.
