To AVS or not?

Hi All,

I've hit a wall in terms of converting traffic for my site tavia-spizer.com

At the moment I'm hitting around 5-6K before making a sale...just dismal and disheaterning! In fact, even a months premium advertising on worldsex and AL4a is failing to help. Strangely enough, I was at a better ratio (1:500) before I re-skinned the site some 2 months ago. Now the site look much more profess, but the conversions have gotten progressively worse.

Anyway, I've been looking to join the AVS (e.g. ProAdult) bandwagon (yeh, I know, 7 years too late). I'm thinking a solo girl site - even if the subject is smoking hot - just can't compete with the DDgirls and Twistys of today with their 100k images and 1k vids.

So AVS or not? Is it worth networking with other webmaster using this model?

We are definitely seeing a resurgence in the number of webmasters coming back to the avs model and we are all trying to improve our systems as technology gets better and better.

The key to is to not do generic sites, but to really personalize the sites. Strong defined niches help as well.

I have to agree with Craig, there is resurgence going on in the AVS....Cough...Excuse me AEN market. We have seen an increase in volume over the past few months. Bottom line what would you rather sell, a single site or a site that has thousands of pages of content!

More important, which site would you join, 1 site or a Network of thousands?

I think this was an important statement.

Depending on what you are selling, mainstream or adult, a slicker looking site does not always convert better.

Before going crazy I would throw the old site back up and see if the conversions come back in line.

If it was 7 years ago (as you pointed out) I would go with the AVS.

If you're saying that this site http://www.tavia-spizer.com/ is converting poorly with this design I find that hard to believe. It's a great looking design with a beautiful model and what seems to be a very good amount of content.

I did notice a couple of things though.

It seems from the tour that the content is a bit light on video and focuses more on photos. Video sells porn sites.

I see that she has a blog but I don't see anything about webcam shows. Solo model sites benefit greatly when the model interacts with her members and one of the best ways to do that is with webcam shows.

If sounds to me like your primary source of traffic is from TGPs and conversions are going to be dismal, that's the way TGP traffic is. Instead of paying to advertise on TGPs, you should be spending your money generating targetted traffic.

What CC processor are you using?

If this is the site we're talking about, I would definitely NOT recommend moving to an AVS model.

Thanks for the kind words. I agree, the design is tops, however, I'm starting to think it may be a bit too "polished" and "professional", maybe even a bit too "safe". These days I'm hearing that surfers like their subjects to seem attainable, somewhat amateurish and even girl-next-door? I'm not so sure that message comes through at the moment.

Bottom line - there's an aspect to the design that I think might be impacting negatively.

The CC processor I'm using is Segpay.com. They're ok I guess - charges are so-so but support is very good (they'll give you the time of the day that's for sure). What are you thinking mate - move to someone else? One thing they don't do is affiliate setup. Which kind of limits my flexibility if I want to go down that road in the future.

Uhuh, TGP traffic can blow. Worldsex has sent 100K unique hits over the last 4 days for just on gallery and NOT one conversion. I'm astounded.

I take your comments on-board regarding AVS.

I'm hitting the model up now for web-cam possibilities. When you say shows, what is the scope here - simply chatting or show some skin or full-explicit? One more thing (yeh, I know time is valuable), what was the template for your blog - something like wordpress or was it a custom job? I like the open and accessible design and ambience. It's as if what your looking for - even though you might not know what it is - will be found quickly.

What does that gallery look like that is 0:100k? I think you should have a minimum of 4 to 5 sales from that. Post it...there must be some issues. I think the site looks great as well. Pretty girl deserves a pretty site in my opinion. The only thing that stood out to me was when I clicked the join page I tend focus on the price in the drop-down box. You have 39.95 which will probably scare TGP surfers off. I would make the default the trial...If you have a good amount of content and frequent updates then you will rebill them. TGP surfers are fast and cheap...

This is the only one - out of a few - that made front-page worldsex.

Interestingly, you can see from the stats below that ~ 2k of the surfers bothered to continue to the main site (i.e. join page)....that might say something about the ability of the gallery to lure their interest.

The model did once upon a time, but previous webmaster lost it because hosting bills weren't paid. I tried getting it back but the webhost (ie skymarket) wants a ridiculous price to release it.

Oh, there it is all the way at the bottom perfectly blended in with the rest of the design

EDIT: Now that I mouse around I see you have a few hot spots but none scream out as clickable. I think I nice fat call to action under the top row of thumbs would help your click thru's

That is a very nice looking gallery. I think what you were thinking about the website itself could be the issue with this gallery. I think it is too nice. I would shrink the header way down, can the image to the left and make your thumbs bigger and the pictures they link to smaller. If she does anything harder core I would include a sampling of that as well. You don't have a 2257 link or address on there. Like Jim said...you need something that says 'click here" in big text or maybe a flashing gif (which not all TGPs like). That's my opinion...
